North Lime is a quirky little spot for some great donuts and coffee. I wasn't really sure what to expect out of square donuts. The place seemed like it had the potential to be about style over substance, because there is certainly no lack of style; I liked the logo so much that I bought my girlfriend a shirt. Luckily, the donuts live up to that style, 100%.
They have a rotating cast of characters, and different locations will have different specialties on different days, so do yourself a favor and check the website to see what is where. Some of these donuts are worth the drive to a different location. (Yes, I've actually done that. My inner fat kid is swiftly becoming my outer fat kid, but I regret nothing.)
They do have a few regulars (glazed, chocolate, sprinkles, etc.) that are always available at all locations. Of those, don't neglect the slightly strange Cinna Monkey. It's kinda of a coffee[cup]cake? I grabbed one on a lark, and it turned out to be one of my favorite things there.
If you find yourself with a morning sweet tooth, this is a good place to pound a cavity into it. Seriously, mind your dental hygiene, because North Lime will conspire to have you consuming far too much sugar at...
Read moreVery bad experience every time I decide I want a donut from here. Never left a review before because really it’s cool, but having my daughter in the car waiting for an order that never came that’s just a big NO. I decide to take my baby out of the car seat and went inside to be told that “our phones are not working and we are sold out of what you ordered” hence I ordered almost an hour ago and my order was confirmed for pick up at 12:15. Came inside the store after waiting outside at 1:08 to be told it’s sold out. First, I think I would have been less mad if I was informed over the phone and didn’t have to drive out for something that’s sold out. Second, why did you let me check out if it’s sold out. Lastly, put a notice that curbside pick up is not an option or (come inside for your order) this is just maddening and I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone.
Still waiting for me refund, I hope I don’t have to come...
Read moreWe have a sales rep that brings these donuts in on a semi-regular basis. No one in our shop of 12 people think these are a good donut. Some of us will try one in hopes they are not as bad as last time, but they are always horrible. I just had to go rinse out the god-awful taste from my mouth.
We have another facility that swears these are the best donuts they have ever had, but they are clearly hicks-from-the-sticks. The donuts look appetizing, but they are heavy, cake-y, and have deceptively little flavor. The donuts from this place are a constant disappointment.
I've never been to another donut shop in Lexington, but I recently completed the Butler County Donut Trail on the north side of Cincinnati. For a good donut experience, try Milton's in Middletown, OH, Mimi's Donuts in Hamilton, OH, Kelly's Bakery in Hamilton, OH, or Jupiter Coffee & Donuts in Fairfield, OH. All are leagues better in flavor and...
