I've had this place on my list for a while now and finally got a chance to try it when I was in town with some friends for a UK game.
This diner is in close proximity to UK campus and about a 5 minute drive to UK's Kroger Field.
Upon entering the inside was nice and cozy feeling, besides the back room we were sat in. That area was a little older and just felt secluded from the rest of restaurant. It had about 6 - 8 additional tables I'm assuming they use this area for busy nights to spread guests out more. Our service was pretty good even though we felt that distance. Our waitress kept checking in with us to make sure we had drinks/re-fills and anything else we needed.
The menu is pretty simple -- you have a choice of numerous sandwiches or you can pick from a list of meats and then pick three accompanying sides. They also serve breakfast and have a large list of pies and cheesecake for dessert.
I got the fried chicken sandwich with all the toppings and came with a choice of side, mine was fries. The sandwich was huge and they gave a large amount of fries as well. It was served on an onion bun which I love. The chicken was super moist and soft. Honestly, one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had. You can tell the chefs took time to prepare the chicken and cut off any nasty parts someone might not want to ingest. The fries were the perfect texture. Only thing is I wished it came on a bigger plate because there wasn't a lot of room to move things around, but that's just me being a little picky.
My girlfriend got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and said it was also really good. That they added the perfect amount of sauce to were it wasn't too much and wasn't too little.
My other two friends also enjoyed their meals and said it hit the spot and they'd dine here again. I can definitely see why it's an area favorite.
Thank you for a good meal and keep up...
Read moreWe were staying at Red roof inn in Lexington and I was not feeling up to going out so I called the closest Ramsey's diner my boyfriend knows the owner pretty well and we went to the harrodsburg road diner location once and they got our order wrong there the very first time we ate there but the food was very good and I was craving it so we ordered and in the extra comment box I put "salt pepper and extra butter on the side and eight lemon wedges for my fried catfish."we had a free delivery fee for joining up with doordash but there was almost a $9 service fee plus a $7 tip that I gave the guy so a meal for two with dessert and two cocktails was around $90. Very disappointed in the service they sent us no utensils no napkins no salt no pepper no butter and one or two lemon wedges. If they are not going to pay attention to the comment box when you make an order then why even have it? And the driver didn't offer to go back and get us the stuff that we needed we ended up having to eat with our fingers and I was not a happy camper and neither was my boyfriend the service was really horrible they have to realize that people need a utensils salt pepper and butter and neither of us like tartar sauce so that's why I asked for lemon wedges. And the $12 cocktail for two did not seem like the size of two cocktails at all it was extremely expensive and not worth $90 by far. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years and my the detail attention to detail surpassed none and I expect the same from other restaurants. Employees just don't seem to...
Read moreStaff and restaurant are great, but the side dishes are not great. Mac and cheese is overcooked and almost tasteless. Coleslaw is very chunky- think diced potatoes, instead of sliced or blended. Like a mini cabbage salad. I've had a couple of the other sides (other occasions) and was not impressed, but wouldn't be able to say what they were. Parm corn and house salad (esp with all toppings) is the best and are my go to. Ranch is house made? and is delicious. Cajun catfish is always great. Hush puppies have corn bits in them, which I love, but sometimes are a little burnt. They have the best peanut butter pie, which they had run out of by 6pm :C, but got the combination pie instead, for the first time, which has a peanut butter pie top and a more fudge brownie bottom (is not what I call a Brownie) like a filling not a cake. Didn't care for the bottom and just at the pb pie top. Salad portion is large. Can usually can have enough food leftover for a small lunch the next day unless I'm super hungry. Recommend the lemon with catfish. Lemonade is good-bit tart, and was .95c for a refill. Boyfriends meal was good. Be careful if you get the charred pork chop- he almost cut his mouth/teeth on a splintered bone piece. The red sauce that comes with it was werid. Like jelly, ketchup, and bbq sauce mixed together. Not my cup of tea. Bf liked more but ate ketchup with it instead. Overall was great and will...
