Today was my first time dining here. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a down home, country restaurant so close to home. We went around 1:30 and it was still quite full. The booths were filled with happy folks who seemed to be very comfortable there. There is a good selection of food from country, seafood, pasta, etc. They also offer daily specials displayed on the white boards. I had the Reuben sandwich combo and enjoyed it very much. Their sweet tea is perfect (if you know anything about sweet tea in the south) and the server very accommodating and kind. I learned as we were leaving that there is quite a history to this restaurant. The young lady on the register is the granddaughter of the second owner of this establishment that was begun in 1925!

I am from Lexington, born and raised. I have been eating from Southern Lunch years (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) before the original burned down. The chicken pie with gravy and creamed potatoes is one of my favorite. Yesterday, I was in town and purchased a chicken pie meal to bring back to Winston-Salem for my lunch today. The portion was great! Lots of gravy; perfect! The only thing was the gravy was extremely salty and I could not eat it. Every restaurant has a bad day ever, now and then and perhaps yesterday was one of theirs. STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES TOO DINE WHEN I AM IN TOWN!

First time here and the food was amazing! My friend and I had waited a while wasnāt able to get our lunch so we had to leave without eating! The staff there not only profusely apologized, they brought our food to our training and gave it to us for free!! They also gave us a 10$ coupon to use for future visits! Even though we waited 45 minutes they really made up for it!!! True Southern hospitably! Thank you guys so much and the food was delicious!!! Highly recommend!
