Let me preface by saying, I don’t usually like to write any sort of negative reviews. If you look at my profile you’ll see that, but I did not have a good first time here.
I had my order taken around 12:50 and planned to dine in but didn’t leave until around 1:30. I had to have my order switched to to-go, which was only a chicken salad sandwich, a water, and a soup. A few tables had been served when I walked in already, but albeit, the majority had not.
A few other solo diners like me were waiting on food and maybe three more groups. I don’t blame anyone in particular, but I’m truly not upset with my server. She kept apologizing and checking in and when I told her I had to get back to work she made sure I left as soon as possible.
I don’t know what is happening in the kitchen, but I’ve worked in them multiple times prior to where I’m at now… so i can only imagine but it does make me feel frustrated that a single sandwich and soup took almost 40 minutes. The restaurant was no busier than I imagine it usually is (based on word of mouth from others) and the two servers did do a great job.
If I ever come back it’ll be at a different time and to try different food. I had heard really great things since I started working in Lexington, maybe another time. It’s a shame when you come in expecting a good time and...

Not going to be the fastest as it's not fast or chain food but pretty darn good for Individually prepared meals with local ingredients. I went simple with a burger medium rare and the wife had a cheese steak, neither could have been better. Saw a chickens salad on a croissant and a steak come by that looked great. Almost did the grilled cheese and one of the soups but didn't and when I saw it come by I knew I'd be back soon to try. Not your normal grilled cheese. Thick buttered bread and lots of thick white cheese oozing out. Downtown, nice atmosphere, full bar, great food, local ingredients, and good service. Not many earn the 5 star buy I can't...
Read moreThe best meal I have had at a restaurant in Lexington is the "Special", Harvest Chicken at Rustic Roots. It is amazing. Love the sliced Brussel sprouts along with the sweet potato cubes and balsamic. It is not high on sodium, and that does not compromise the taste. Doesn’t leave you feeling bad later either. Blown away that a 19 year old young man cooked this. Great service with an old town historical atmosphere is a plus. Will definitely return for...
