I've been in the Palomar location 4 times. First visit, not impressed and a bit disappointed since I was new in town and was super excited to find a brunch place near our new house and that they serve Benedicts! My Benedict order came in with a Fried Egg! We did talk the server and she was kind enough to ask the kitchen to get me a poached egg just to return with another fried egg. So that was a bust. But it was ok since I had good company with me.
Second time around was with a group of colleagues before heading down to Keeneland. And that visit was a doozy! We got served with dirty utensils and dirty mugs. After kindly asking our server to get us new ones we were told, "they are all like that!" Combined with an attitude. Hey I get it, it's busy and she was probably spread thin that service but still.... Food was mediocre at best. I had their avocado toast and biscuits & gravy and a side of fruit still I left on a happy note due to good company of colleagues.
Third time, a new friend invited us. Service was ok. Food was ok according to my son. I opted to just have coffee and toast that time. Company was awesome as usual.
Fourth time around was just a couple days ago. I decided to go by myself. Had coffee and their country fried steak with over easy eggs. Service this time was decent. Server was nice and checked on me a couple of times. However, my over easy eggs were medium and poked/broken. Steak was hard and chewy, batter was soggy, gravy was raw and bland. Potatoes were undercooked.
I would say jury is still out on Wild Eggs for me... Maybe I'll give them another try one day but so far based on food experience and price cost, I wouldn't necessarily mention this place as a go to...
Read moreWonderful breakfast/brunch after a night of excess. The steak and eggs are perfect and one of the few meals I completely consume anymore. To emphasize how much I like the steak and eggs here, I chose the Pasta dish last night at Tony’s of Lexington instead of their steak because I couldn’t see me eating steak back to back.
Wife got the Yellow Submarine Sandwich which was very hardy. Warning pickles are really hot, good but hot. The egg salad was good egg salad, and her hash brown casserole thing was good.
Only issue is there seems to be a disconnect here on service it appears a little chaotic from the front line to the finale. We did manage to get seated quick (make reservations!). Our server was polite and got the order correct, but seemed scattered all over the restaurant instead of working our section. Seems like she was bussing more tables than making sure our dining needs were being met. Left us constantly aggravating other servers for refills and condiments. I still tipped well, as absent some direct slight by a server usually failure to provide good service falls on the salaried management. The young lady that was working the host station was the only person who consistently engaged us and inquired about our needs when she was near, made me feel welcomed. This I think was compounded by what may have been a manager type walking around clicking something off on an IPad, but not really backing up anyone. Maybe just a different style of management than...
Read moreI was enjoying a nice meal with a group friends when suddenly a server accidentally drops a full tray of alcohol beverages on me and my jacket. The waiter was apologetic as well as our server, but the manager response very disappointing. I was very upset because I had a wedding to go to latter and I had already done my hair for the event. As I am fuming the manager lets out the most unsympathetic apology I have ever heard. Then he proceed to ask me “what do you want me to do about it” I am just shocked that is the customer service this place has to offer after a tragic accidental event. Also he proceeds to say he would comp my meal but not my friends, until my friends insisted on saying that they shouldn’t pay for their meal because we weren’t done eating. He finally agrees not to charge them either but after the guest has asked you for that. So to the manager your absolute dismissive behavior was not appreciated at all. You work in the service industry and for you to not really care about the situation is not okay. I didn’t care if I had to still pay for my meal. The point is about ethics and the principle of the situation. You don’t call 911 and for them to turn around and tell you “what do you want me to...
