Ashley's Cafe & Tap — Restaurant in Leyden Township

This place has some of the worst service I’ve ever seen. To preface, the place was not busy - maybe a handful of people. Ordered 5 drinks and a donut. The donuts are ready made and the barista didn’t give the donut after paying, but instead after paying walked around for 20 straight minutes zoning out and occasionally talking to the only other staff member. It was so odd. When we asked when our drinks were expected to come out, since he hadn’t even turned on the espresso machine once since we came in, he said about 10 minutes and that he was working on a catering order. Which was very odd because he hadn’t done anything the entire time we were waiting (although the other staff member was working rather diligently in the kitchen, but disappeared after about 20 minutes). After approximately 30 mins of waiting, he started up the espresso machine and started working on drinks for another customer that came in after us and had to ask that customer 2x what milk they wanted because he couldn’t remember. He messed that drink up and had to remake it. He then started making our drinks and was dropping the sauce bottles, couldn’t remember what milks we wanted and kept asking, and was just acting extremely off the entire time. We eventually just asked for a refund because it had been 40 minutes now since we ordered and had only 2 drinks come out and he became extremely hostile and defensive instead of understanding. He then told us he’d refund us but that we “better leave HIS drinks here then”. Never had such a terrible experience. Jess the barista is attentive and wonderfully friendly. She was super helpful when it came to decision-making about drink and food choices.

The atmosphere is super clean, colorful, and chill, with a couple of seating options and additional seating at the bar.

As a friend and I sat to talk, she kindly came over with a sample of the Cafe con Leche with toffee... delicious!

If you want a nice spot that has good drinks (alcohol and non-alcoholic), something to eat, and seating to catch up with a friend, this is the place.

I am SO sad I didn't know about this place sooner! Great drinks and they even serve a few food items (hot and cold). The customer service was impeccable! Jorlin is an amazing batista that knows her stuff and has an amazing personality, making my first time experience that much better! I wish I wasn't moving otherwise I would be here at least once a week. I currently live an hour away from here, but I would have been willing to make the drive.
