I think they have changed the menu but gotto tell you that the food was really good.
Ambiance: this place has very good ambiance. Very authentic Indian ambiance.
Reservation: we made the reservation for 6 via open table and when we arrived they said they are not aware of such reservation. but the manager asked us to wait for five minutes so that he can have a table ready for us and as told, it was ready in 5 minutes.
We were seated in the covered outside area. AC was not very cool in that area and they had only 2 fans in that big area.
Food: The food was really good today. We ordered chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, Mangalorian Paneer Tikka, Yellow Daal, white rice, Kadak Sheekh kebab and chaat papdi. Everything was really really good. All of us enjoyed the food. When we ordered onions and green chilies, we were given onions and jalapeños and to my surprise when we asked the server about the green chilies he said we don't get green chilies in US. Which was a lie cause you get it at all Indian grocery stores.
Mangalorian Paneer tikka was really good. And then next thing i liked the most was Chana masala. I don't eat meat so I didn't try chicken tikka masala but those who ate said the curry was really delicious.
Drinks: We ordered a bottle of wine, Kingfisher beer, lemonade with mint. Lemonade with mint is my favorite - I highly recommend it.
Restroom: The restrooms were clean. They have separate restrooms for Men and Women. Review based on 11.15.2022 visit.
My review for this place has drastically changed.
This place is always a hit or miss. Sometimes with their service and food is so good and next time i get disappointed with it. This time both of the things- service and food disappointed me. I went there to celebrate my 40th Birthday. It was Tuesday - so not crazy busy but still they could not take care of their customers.
Whatever we were asking about the dishes before ordering totally came opposite. We asked if the paneer tikka will be on sizzler hot plate, then server said yes. And when i cane in a regular plate and we asked, the manager said we don't serve anything on hot plate. Not to mention the paneer tikka were very below level of taste.
We were 4 of us and when we entered, we asked for the end sofa seats and manager as there were 2 empty and manager said those are reserved and we seat guests there only a party of 6 and seated us at the entrance of main hall and outdoor seating.
After sometime we saw that one of that seating was occupied by 4 guests and the 2nd empty sofa seating was never occupied till the time we were there.
So not sure what causes all this. This place is always run by one man - not sure if he is manager or what but he is wearing same uniform like other servers. This time there was another guy in white shirt taking rounds. We complaint about all we encountered and he said i was not aware of this and will make sure next time it does not happen.
So, i am skeptical now if i should be going there or not.
Review from earlier visit. Overall it's a very great place to be with your family and enjoy a good Indian food. Make sure the reservation is made ahead of time and is confirmed with the restaurant.

Read moreI recently visited Mantra by Indian Garden in schiller Park, Illinois, after seeing some good reviews online. It was a 45-minute drive for us, and as we approached the area, we noticed that the surroundings looked a bit shady. However, the location of the restaurant itself is just okay. Parking seemed to be an issue, and it took us a while to find a spot.
We had made a reservation, but upon arrival, my name was not on the list. Fortunately, the manager was accommodating and allowed us to have a seat. The place is very beautiful, with an ambiance that is quite unique for an Indian restaurant. It features a lot of plants and an outdoor view, and the front of the restaurant is also beautifully done.
Their menu is extensive. We started with the Chillers Fresh Lime Soda and Masala Soda. The Masala Soda was very nice compared to the Lime Soda. For appetizers, we had the Paneer Ke Shooley (Indian cheese sautéed with onion & bell pepper) and Adraki Chaamp (smokey & juicy ginger-flavored lamb chops grilled in a clay oven). The lamb chops were delicious and tender, while the paneer had a bit of a sweet indo-Asian fusion taste, which my wife liked.
For the main course, we ordered the Lahori Kadai Paneer (cottage cheese cooked in Kadai masala with sautéed onion & bell pepper) and my wife had the Dil Khush Kofta (potato dumplings stuffed with cheese in curry sauce). We also tried their Laccha Paratha and Garlic Mozzarella Naan. They serve rice for the table, which was good. In terms of quantity, it was worth the money. The naan was exceptional, and the paratha was also very nice. The paneer curry was just average, but the kofta was good.
We were too full to try the sweets, but we plan to do so on our next visit. I would like to give a shout-out to the staff member who took care of us—he was very polite and communicated really well.
Overall, despite the minor issues with parking and the reservation, our experience at Mantra by Indian Garden was enjoyable. The beautiful decor, diverse menu, and tasty dishes make it a place...
