Mixteca Grill — Restaurant in Liberal

I decided to try the place as I see it's always got a pretty good amount of people in the parking lot. The service was pretty quick but the food was really bad. I got a chicken chimichanga that was soggy and covered in this overly salty white cheese sauce. The chicken in the soggy burrito that should have been crispy and fried to perfection was rubbery and way over cooked and not seasoned at all. The rice was bland, the beans were runny and I was charged $29 for 3 bites of soggy burrito and a bite or two of super bland rice and a mini-pitcher of Dos Equis. I won't be frequenting this place at all if this is the best they can do.

Update, the owner gave me a refund on the plate and an apology and assured me that they could do better because even though I'm a chef that specializes in Sonoran and Mexican cuisine that grew up cooking in the Imperial Valley, she knows better because she's Mexican and they're from Iowa. I didn't know DNA made you a better chef than actually being immersed in the culture for 2-3 decades and being taught by the elders! I should have known better! Service was good, food is horrible and the place stinks like cheap...something. Google "chimichanga" and implement that into your restaurant instead of lecturing me how I don't know anything because you think I'm just some random white guy. I'm not. Have respect for the cuisine and don't tell me a hotdog is a plate of carne asada because it's just marinated meat that's been on the grill. UNBELIEVABLE! RESPECT...

Went when they first opened and our server was very slow but we eventually had our order taken and received our food. Not impressed with the food or salsa but they were just starting out so didn't rate them at that time. We decided to give it another try since they have been open awhile. We were seated quickly and she took our drink order.... actually the same server we had a few months ago. The robot brought out chips and tomato sauce ..I mean salsa. She said she would be back in a minute to take our order. For the next 20 minutes she went to the 3 tables around us and chatted at the bar, then made drinks behind the bar. I kept thinking ok she will come take our order but instead she started washing glasses or something behind the bar. I asked another server if we owed for the chips because we were tired of waiting for someone to take our order. She said oh my God you haven't been waited on...I replied no and asked again if we owed for the chips we ate, she said no and we left. 25-30 minutes is too long to wait for your order...

I was driving by Liberal and looking for a good place to eat. Saw the reviews and knew I needed to stop. Walked in and told the host I was solo and would sit at the bar to not take up a whole table. I sat there for 23 minutes. Not once did someone ask me what I would like to drink or provide me with a menu. I asked a waitress for a glass of water and she said one sec. That was at 15 minutes of me being there. 4 groups of people arrived prior to me sitting at the bar and were at least provided with menus. I’m sure the food is probably good and would have loved to try it but the service was terrible. Not sure how it has a semi high...
