Tanuki•Japanese steakhouse — Restaurant in Liberty Township

Well, that was weird. The food wasn’t terrible, soup was good, hubby liked the filet. The rest of it had so much teriyaki blobbed on it, it was all you could taste. We got the egg yolk sauce and couldn’t taste it because of the teriyaki. If you like teriyaki, go here for food. The weirdest part was the chef- very peppy, but before we knew it, he was throwing zucchini at us to catch in our mouths. Not just once, but multiple chunks of food even when we declined. Next was the squirting of sake in our mouths and all over our faces and hair. We are driving home hoping we don’t get pulled over because we both reek of saki. It was all over our clothes. When he tried to do it again, we both declined quickly and then he still squirted us with saki, this time from a bottle with a baby on the toilet figurine on the top. It was all so odd! We moved to Powell and have now tried to check this place out twice. Unfortunately, the first time we went for dinner, they sat 7 unaccompanied minors at our table. They were acting like fools, spitting water at each other, asking each other how much money everyone had to pay for their meals. We asked for our bill for the drinks and app we had already ordered and left.

Fast forward to today-figured we would check it out for lunch. Walked in at 1:20 and was told to have a seat for 5 min in the waiting area for Hibachi. (There was 1 table with 4 people at it)

17 minutes later there was no update and the hostess was no where to be found. Extremely disappointed-I was really hoping to give them another shot. Management really needs to clean house and get some staff that will build your customer base and maintain the service that clearly used to be there!

I’m not sure if it was because we got our food later in the day we ordered about 830pm but the order was incorrect we asked for one shrimp meal and one chicken hibachi meal an they gave us shrimp on both my husband is allergic to shrimp so he was unable to eat any of it so we spent $50 on 2 meals an my husband was unable to eat, I repeated myself at least 3 times on the phone letting the person taking the order exactly what I was asking for, they kinda got smart an said “ how many you want you just mentioned 2 orders that what you want” I stated yes please at least a couple times they were getting frustrated I was asking about things on the menu, this was our first time here an I was giving it a try because of the reviews and we love hibachi, but my experience was...
