Parking: Shares a parking lot with a stores in a mini strip mall/town center. Not hard to find a spot. I'm sure it may be different at peak times like dinner and happy hour. Going in: During lunch, you seat yourself. Ample seating on a Saturday during lunch time. I can see it being different at other times. Service: Service is superb. The waitress was lovely and made sure drinks were topped off at all times. They were not hovering or overbearing. Just the right amount of check-ins. Menu: Can't go wrong with the taco plate and quesabirria tacos. My partner ordered the quesabirria tacos. It came with 3 qb tacos and a big bowl of consomme with a side plate of toppings for the consomme (limes, onion, cilantro, and dried chili's.) They give you so much consomme with the quesabirria tacos lol. Awesome portions. I ordered the taco plate which came with 4 tacos of my choice (I went with two steak and two al pastor with onion and cilantro toppings only, on corn tortillas. The tacos by default come with onion, cilantro, and lettuce, I think... but I like it the simple way.) The 4 taco plate came with rice, beans, and Pico de Gallo. They also give you hot salsas (Verde, rojo, and a yellow/orange one) on the side (in individual sauce cups). We also ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole. The salsa and guac were really mild (very friendly to those who do not like spicy food.) It probably could've used more kick in my opinion, but that really does come to preference. The flavor was fine. My partner's only critique was that the al pastor seemed drier than the last time we were there (probably a year ago.) Other than that, everything tasted great. We had a lot of left overs to take home. Cost: We paid ~$73 including tip, which is about $~37 per person. Bathroom: Partner said it was clean. The light kept turning off every 20 seconds though lol. (Seemed like a timer/motion thing.) He said it would turn back on fast though. He said he would take that over a dirty bathroom though lol. Overall, it's a solid Mexican spot. Competes with a lot of Mexican staples in the Northshore area. Great for groups and dates. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped in for a sit-down lunch at this restaurant during a not-too-busy time… ordered the “deluxe meat” tacos with 2 Shrimp and 2 Skirt Steak. Food came quickly but I was vastly disappointed to see the portion sizes. Over $5 per taco and this establishment has the gall to serve a taco consisting of 3 minuscule shrimps, (like the $6.99 per pound ones at market). I truly enjoyed the skirt steak, but was turned off by the rest of the plate. I asked to speak to the manager and simply asked him it was a fluke that the portions were so anemic, to which he responded “that’s how they always come out.” He then told me he’d “help out” on the bill and that never came to fruition when I was ultimately charged full price. Managers response- “The owner will be here tonight if you’d like to wait for him” mockingly as if I had 6 hours to kill. I will NOT be returning and I do NOT recommend this establishment for anyone who sees a value behind their own money.

Dos Amigos Restaurant on Rockland Rd in Libertyville is our hands-down, go-to Mexican Restaurant in the Northwest Suburbs. We have been to Dos Amigos close to a dozen times. Each time the food has been superb. We have dined on Tortas, the Enchilada Dinner, the Taco Dinner, the Veggie Burrito, the Chimichanga, and the Taco Salad. The atmosphere is always festive. The restaurant’s interior is decorated with traditional cultural décor that reflects both everyday life as well as different holidays. The service is prompt, friendly, and reflects the owners’ commitment to the customer’s enjoyment and satisfaction. Upon entering Dos Amigos, you’re greeted by one of the co-owners, a warm and welcoming man, who treats his guests like family. If the world was filled with people like this, it would be a much better place.

Hearing a lot of good things about Dos Amigos in Libertyville, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is well laid out with two storefronts wide, seating on both sides and a kitchen in the middle on one side and a bar on the other side. We were seated very quickly and ordered guacamole for appetizer. I thought that it was under seasoned with no tomato or onion or even salt and pepper. I added some of the salsa that came with the chips to improve the taste. I ordered the Surf and Turf, which is grilled shrimp and a thin but well seasoned ribeye. Rice and steamed medley of vegetables filled the plate with an impressive abundance of food. My wife ordered the salmon with some food restrictions. Her plate was filled with a good portion of salmon, medley of vegetables, rice, and chopped mango. Both of our dishes were pleasantly designed and very tasty. The food here is very good and worth the ticket price. Main courses run between $24 and $30. Some items are less and some are more. We didn't order drinks or desert and the bill was around $70. I would return and enjoy trying many other dishes. I enjoyed the paintings and decorations all around the restaurant, even the hanging decorations. It is not over done with wild painted walls and cheap Mexican stuff, like numerous other Mexican style restaurants. This is one of the best Mexican Restuarants that I really enjoyed. Please tap the heat and follow me on Google for more reviews around...
