My family and I can't get enough of this place! From December 2023 to January 2024, we went to eat here every week and sometimes 2-3 times a week. That's how much we crave the food here. And the staff are so patient with us. Especially with my teen daughter who has fallen in love with this kind of vegan gluten free Indian food. She keeps going up to the staff asking for the Indian and American version name of each dish or dessert she falls in love with. They're so patiend and kind to her. There was this Indian gentleman that even wrote the name of every dish and dessert for her. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the healthy, but very tasty and exotic Indian fare they offer. And they offer packaged dessert that is hard to fund in other Indian restaurants. It's SO good and delicious. My daughter and I are vegan and gluten free while my husband and son are omnivores. This place is perfect for me and my daughter. However my son and hubby says they don't miss eating meat at all when we eat here, and that their body feels great after. We usually get the Thali (not sure about the spelling), but it's the tray where you can have all the dishes they have in the warming trays, so you get to sample most of their dishes. Someone says this is not a good place to take your wife because of the brown paper roll as napkins and the cafeteria atmosphere. I say this is the best place to take your wife or even a potential boyfriend/girlfriend because you can test how pretentious they are and if they're down to REAL and authentic Indian food experience that is NOT westernized. This place will not give you the westernized romantic posh experience one is looking for. My son and daughter even said that if a girl or boy puts their nose up in the air in this kind of atmosphere then they wouldn't want to date that person. The atmosphere is great--clean, basic and simple, cafeteria style, very warm and friendly staff, and no fuss decoration! You need to remember that when you come here to eat, you're here for the food, culture, and experience. If I can give this place 100...

It is with utter shame and disappointment that I have to write about this experience. We had heard a lot about the food here and my parents were eager to try it. We reached at 9 spent an hour at the temple and decided to go to this cafe for breakfast. Turns out, they open at 11. According to what they have on Google. So we waited for an hour. The café opened but the extremely rude heavy built man in his black outfit , very strong and almost incomprehensible Gujarati accent said they won’t serve food until 1130. The man has no customer service ethic and shouldn’t be made to interact with people. His social skills are below average to say the least. I told him that we had been waiting for an hour and that they should change their timings on Google or put up a notice outside letting people know that food is not served until 1130. To which he replied “that’s not my responsibility, go online and leave a review out the website and write a feedback “ because we were really hungry we just picked up some packed snacks and took it to him for billing. Surprise surprise, credit card machine is not working so he asks for cash and doesn’t even give us a receipt. I’m pretty sure that money went straight into his pocket and he ain’t paying any taxes on it. What is so heart breaking is that this is a part of the temple where one expects to be treated with respect and dignity....

We were very hungry and am looking for something quick. This place is inside the India Temple. Their target customers are people from India. Although it's very different from a traditional India buffet I have been to. It's s small shop + fast food kind of combo. My friend order noodles. Don't know what to expect and having difficulty understanding accent English, after making payments, we sit there waiting to be called or served. My number came up shortly, I went to the counter and there is only one item out of the three we ordered. I looked at the old man asking where is my other two orders. The young gentleman who took my order came to show me the the heating oven behind me. We got my tow orders out of it. The noodles box was almost like wrapped in oil. It has so much oil, when we place it down on the table, it made a mess. We quickly place a few napkins on the table to absorb the oil. I ordered a quesadilla. It's just a tortilla and some cheese. There is nothing else on it. Personally, I'll think very hard before...

It is great to find a place that has Indian cuisine of fine restaurant quality at cafeteria prices. Shayona is presumably owned and run by the neighboring temple and so you will not find any meat on the menu (as with most Americanized restaurants). Nevertheless, the culinary experience is not diminishing by this Vedic tradition. Everything is surprisingly inexpensive and delightfully delicious. There is also an Indian food store, which has the most comprehensive selection of Indian candy that I've ever seen outside of the mother country. I spotted my father's favorite candy and it brought tears to my eyes as I reminisced about my formative years in India.

I enjoyed the masala chai there. Also loved the fact that there were a lot of farali snacks available, which means without onion and garlic, got a few for our fast days. You could also get a lot of namkeen and indian sweets. It was crowded on Sunday evening, so we couldn’t find a place to sit. I really felt that they could do more with the atmosphere, all we could hear was what other people were chatting about, no music was played. So it wasn’t pleasant sitting there.
