What you should know: Great prices, super convenient, solid food, needs more flavor.
Food: I ordered the birria tacos because I had a MAJOR craving, and BIRRIA!? IN GWINNETT? YES PLEASE! Needless to say I was setting myself up for some disappointment off the bat, but all in all it satisfied my craving. First, the tacos - they were perfectly fried (albeit soggy, but that's probably because it took a bit to be delivered) and still had some crunch to them, were extra cheesy (a bit too much cheese for my taste, but I know some people like that), and decently flavored. As this is birria, I was expecting a much more robust, deep, rich flavor and unfortunately, while the meat was soft and had some flavor, it wasn't nearly up to the standards of some others I've tried around town who specialize in it. The consome was basically just spicy broth without much other flavor, which was fairly disappointing as you want it to give that extra flavor boost when you dip your tacos in it. Additionally, the lime wedges they gave were extra dry, so didn't add much to everything. The shining part of this dish was definitely the salsa picante they give. Putting it in the consome transformed everything and gave it a nice kick that made up for the lack of that rich birria flavor.
Price: Ended up spending about $20 via DoorDash, which is pretty great if you ask me for birria + a jarritos. Definitely worth it despite the flavor.
All in all, I'll definitely be ordering here again since it's solid food that's convenient for me, but I'll probably leave the birria to the specialists and try something...
Read moreWe visited here on a chilly Saturday hoping to please our belly's with some well-seasoned, temperature-warm Birria and flavorful margaritas. We were pleasantly surprised in both categories, and left happy and full. The starter chips and guacamole was good, but not great. I prefer a little more seasoning, but I can't complain. My wife carries Tajin in her purse so we made it work. The Birria Quesadillas and Birria Tacos were on another level. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned and fresh off the grill. However, the quesadillas were a notch better than the tacos, and the consomé was perfectly balanced in terms of seasoning, flavor, and heat. The meat and cheese separated like a rope climber on each bite, and the margaritas were a perfect way to wash it all down. There are Frida Kahlo and Mexico City murals on the walls of the restaurant, which is a small but intimate space. Having visited Mexico City, I can tell you that it is an authentic representation of the culture and architecture, and I really felt like I was there. The service was on point as well, and all of the employees were friendly and personable. Our only complaint was the actual temperature inside. There were two space heaters that weren't working at the time, so it was a bit chilly. I'm assuming that they have central heat, but that it may have been out that day, but that will not deter us from making another trip to Lilburn. Overall, I give Frida's...
Read moremake sure you read your receipt. They tried to overcharge every single person at our table for alcohol. My first shot was how to key even though I asked for Don Julio. I had to tell them that that was not Don Julio just to make sure that the next shot they brought out actually was Don Julio the only tequila drink so I know when there’s a difference then instead of charging me for the Don Julio price, they charge me for the most expensive tequila. They had on their list for both shots, even though the first one was House tequila. We rarely saw our waitress and after 2 1/2 hours of being there I had to hunt down another waiter to get Our checks. The tacos sucked. They have an automatic 8% gratuity and literally couldn’t even provide the whole table with silverware and we’re using to go cups and to go utensils for everything. Probably one of the wordr restaurants I’ve ever been to that has $15 meals. I’ll never go back. There are plenty of authentic Mexican places you could go to with better food cheaper prices and much Much...
