We came here for a late breakfast on a sunday afternoon, 02 may 21. The experience was less than enjoyable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of none is that the restaurant earned one for a pleasant atmosphere and one for ultimately, after much ado, the staff did the right thing and credited one of our entrees. I normally NEVER leave reviews, so its a big deal for me to post this. So, since I am, I will do a complete job. The pricing is high considerering the very average decor, and the below average food quality. I had one egg (obviously bulk liquid egg) one bacon (overcooked that had been sitting in a warming bin a long time) one tiny sausage link (dried out and obviously suffering from the same treatment as the bacon) and 2 small hotcakes ($11.95) I added "homestyle potatoes" ($4.75) which turned out to be small frozen largely diced potatoes. The server was professional and polite and attentive at first. But when I called him over to show him the plastic packaging that was stuck to the underside of my bacon, he offered no apology, but did offer a new piece of bacon. I declined, imagining what other oversights the kitchen could be capable of. When the bill came he had credited 10%. (Nice of him) but not really in keeping with an industry standard of compensation for an only partly eaten meal before discovering something gross. I kindly asked him to take off my meal from the bill or 50%. He told me that he couldn't and said that I had eaten part of the meal and he had offered to replace part. I explained that was really not a satisfactory fix and asked for a manager, but was told they did not have one. When I mentioned a google review, several female servers approached and offered to help, and immediately credited my meal. It should be said, that money was never the issue for me, I can easily afford the bill. It was only about doing the right thing, and then became an opportunity to make others aware of a restaurant with only medium quality food. Thank you to the staff who...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant for the past 2 years. Up until yesterday, the service, food, and atmosphere have been GREAT. Yesterday i came to Hilltop opting to NOT go to another nearby restaurant choice. I was seated and brought coffee and menus. The waitress came back to check once after about 2 minutes, I needed a few more minutes. She did not come back for what seemed like 10-15 minutes. Coffee long gone and still no waitress. Finally the waitress popped by and took our order. I saw our order sitting under the heat lamp for a very long time. Finally the waitress came by with my sisters plate and not mine because the chef got the order wrong. Again, I sat and watched my plate sitting under the heat lamp and waitress no where in sight. Finally, after my sister was completely done with her breakfast, my plate arrived, the plate was luke warm and the food was room temperature. I did not even eat half of it. We never saw the waitress again. we went to the cash register to cash out and all of a sudden she showed up. Bring the men waiters back! they were always fast, friendly, and i NEVER had to wait for a 2nd cup of coffee. I let the other workers there know of my dissatisfaction and they (the one that could speak English) could not have seemingly cared less. While I did not tip I was still on the hook to pay for a meal that was cold and I couldnt even finish. BRING THE GOOD...
Read moreWe stopped here on a whim for dinner while staying in Lincoln city. We had 3 adults & an 11 year old. We got seated right away, our waitress Kathy came over right away & got our drinks goin. We were a little worried because the prices were higher then what we had seen online but that's pretty common everywhere post covid. So we all ordered & were blown away, 1st by the size of our meals then by how they all tasted. All 4 of our dinners were amazing, we even got a strawberry lemonade that was one of the best any of us had tasted. Also we ordered there homemade flan for dessert that as full as we were from the amazing dinner we just has, we couldn't help but to eat, it was irresistible. We went again for breakfast & again amazing meals across the board. We were lucky to have Kathy as our waitress again. So if your in Lincoln city & are hungry this place is definitely a place you should go. And if you get Kathy, make sure you tip her well, I'm sure she will treat you great no matter what, but come on oregon only pays minimum wage to these guys & when one is nice & friendly to you, you should show your appreciation with a decent tip(15%). Don't b a dick & leave $5 for $120 meal ya cheap ass. They work hard & deal with assholes all day long. So make sure your always nice to the people who serve you food, at home or at...
