Charlie's Family Dining — Restaurant in Lincoln Park

I was there Sunday around 2 pm, and the experience there was nice with good service. When checking out, I asked if they were closing soon, since it was approaching 3 pm, they said no, there open till 9 pm. They apparently knew why I was asking, and said they are having a change in shift occurring and were cleaning up the dining area!

Here is the big issue of distraction- while I am sittingc at my booth table in the middle isle of the restaurant, I had to content with 100 foot of extension cord about the floor with the wet/dry vacuum they were using cleaning table seating and under table floor area across from me, and as other table along the isle. This cleaning took awhile to do, while I was still seated and and having breakfast.

Here is the clincher: The output air of this wet / dry vac was on and blowing exhaust air right in my direction several feet away from where I was sitting, for about 6 minutes before she moved it on its rolling wheels to another area to clean.

Let me ask for other customer feedback on this! Maybe all future customers visiting and commenting on this site is a nice way to have strong impact on this type of experience to wait until customer are not in the mix of it while...

Use to go here many moons ago with the family as a child when it was Leon's Family Dining and part of the Leons chain. Now it's Charlies. The prices are decent. The Soups are AMAZING, and it's one of the few places that still offer a Soup bar (that's never ending). Plus, for under 10 dollars, you get the dinner, and you get salad, and the never ending soup bar. They have great lunch specials too. Weekends have a great Breakfast bar as well that I enjoy.

The only thing i really dislike is how they cook their omelettes. Being a former breakfast cook, I'm a stickler for breakfast food being cooked correctly. Lately, the hubby and I have just being go for breakfast (I like the skillets) but i plan on going back for the soup bar now that i know they still serve beef barley on thursdays. So the dirty glass in the begining should have been the sign to leave. Then to unwrap disgusting dirty silverware...but still we stayed. The food was great however the waitress was extremely rude! We told the waitress that we would be ordering dessert as soon as our daughter finished her dinner and she continued to come back yo our table and ask us if we were ready to order know that my daughter was still not done. After the 3rd time visiting our table she decided to sit down at the other side of the restaurant and complain loud enough to be heard that she had come to our table and we would not order dessert! So we called for our check and she had to be told we would not be ordering dessert from them more then once. We will...
