We're visiting the area from Florida for our daughter's graduation from Navy bootcamp. We're staying in Waukegan and were searching for restaurants and discovered this one with all 5 stars for their reviews and KNEW we had to come here. I ordered the #1 Traditional bowl with white rice and had them put all the options available, including the spicy K sauce. It was AMAZING!!! So amazing, that I had to leave my review while I'm still here. We're in the area for 5 days and planning on coming back at least 3 more times! My husband had the #4 Kimchi bowl with black rice and K sauce and he was absolutely THRILLED with his choice. We also had the Korean chips, they were Sweet Corn Turtle Chips and those were fantastic as well! We're usually fans of salt & vinegar chips, but have to say that we like these Korean chips EVEN MORE! We had miso soup with our meal and enjoyed that as well. We wish we could bring this restaurant back to Florida with us. This restaurant deserves 10 stars if that were an option! Wow, wow, wow! We were SUPER lucky to find them! Sorry for the lack of photos...it was SO good, we just, "tucked in", enjoying it. Not only did we forget photos, but we even forgot to taste each other's food, and we ALWAYS, until now, sampled each other's food! I told my husband we should order food to go to take back to the hotel and have for dinner tonight. Yes, it's THAT delicious! I forgot to add, it was suggested to us to shake the bowl (with lid on) to mix everything together. We did this a few times while eating, to distribute all the flavors and it...
Read moreMy visit to Drop the Dop was truly memorable! From the moment I stepped in, the staff greeted me with warmth and hospitality, making me feel right at home. They went above and beyond to help me customize my bowl, ensuring that every ingredient was just right to create the perfect blend of flavors.
The ambiance of the restaurant was strikingly modern, with sleek decor that exuded a contemporary charm. The addition of lush green plants scattered throughout the space added a welcoming and inviting atmosphere, making it a delightful place to dine.
Now, let's talk about the food – it was simply outstanding! Each ingredient looked impeccably fresh and vibrant, and the presentation was so enticing that it sparked my appetite instantly. And let's not forget about the delightful addition of a small bowl of miso soup, which perfectly complemented the meal.
Despite the high quality and deliciousness of the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the meal. With the total cost coming to around $12, it was not only a satisfying experience but also a great value for money.
As if that wasn't enough, I was thrilled to receive a reward card that offered me a free meal after collecting 10 stamps. It's gestures like these that truly demonstrate Drop the Dop's commitment to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
In summary, my time at Drop the Dop was nothing short of exceptional. From the friendly staff to the modern ambiance, delectable food, and enticing rewards program, it's safe to say that I'll be returning again and again for more...
Read morei came at around 12:50 and it was pretty dead as i’m assuming lunch had just finished. i got a white rice, beef, broccoli, corn and fried onion bowl with teriyaki. first thing i’ll say is, the beef i got had no sear and no flavor. now this isn’t the worst thing, especially for an establishment where you’re meant to mix everything together. however, any restaurant any where should really be marinating their beef with something, especially if it’s supposed to 15$ and the main protein source of a bowl. personally i think you should be able to get just meat and rice and still have a decent tasting meal. that’s not to say everything isn’t fresh, and with the teriyaki it’s fine. now about the price. 15$ for a beef bowl is somewhat over the top. it’s definitely debatable, but using Chipotle as a example(they use the same serving format) their steak bowls only cost ~11$. serving sizes are about the same compared to chipotle btw. also comparing the meat, chipotle marinates, grills then cuts their meats. not sure how this place does it but might not be a bad idea to follow that methodology. again, restaurant is still fine, i just don’t believe un marinated and grey beef should cost me 15$. would love to see something like a bulgogi option, or something along those lines. i plan to come back to try other things/see how things improve. wishing this...
