I just want to start off with saying that the lady at the front desk seating us was excellent, and management was amazing. We had a party of roughly 25 with a full team of baseball players in that 25. We were looking to get some good food in their stomachs and have a nice atmosphere to do so in.
It was all of those things, but let me tell you, upon being seated, we walked past a lady that was muttering "I hope they know they aren't getting all their meals put on different checks. We're not doing that."
Let me just say, that this mentality is so uncalled for. Literally none of us cared if you gave each individual a ticket or separated it out. We are customers. As someone that owns a small business, I constantly remind my employees and even myself, that the people coming into my store ARE THE REASON FOR MY STORE. They DO NOT have to come into my store. They are the reason I am paid. I'm not sure why people don't feel the same way about this. We weren't rude, we weren't ugly in any way - we just had a large party.
With that being said, all I ordered was coffee because I had eaten earlier that morning, but my wife ordered food, and my son ordered food. Our waitress happened to be the same lady that was muttering to a coworker when we walked in about how the checks were going to be done, or whatever. She was less than pleasant. Never said thank you, never acted like she really wanted us there. We never did receive biscuits or cornbread, and when asked, she acted so unnerved by it that she just whipped around as she was pouring coffee in my buddies mug, and poured it on the table and his leg. Never checked up, just walked off. Brought biscuits back a while later and and never said a word. KEEP IN MIND, as customers we are super polite during this entire time. We never failed to thank her for her filling our coffee, bringing whatever she was bringing, and so forth.
In the end, will it stop me from going to Cracker Barrel? No. Will I go back to this one? Yeah, I'm sure I will if I'm in the area. My main reason for saying this is, some people need perspective. We were completely innocent in this ordeal, we just had a lot of kids. They weren't wild, they weren't even the loudest part of the atmosphere, yet we were treated like a burden.
So like I said - Management came by and thanked us for choosing Cracker Barrel, and every other waitress we had was great. Jackie though was not very pleasant. We...
Read moreOne of our favorite restaurants in Lindale. We love the atmosphere, the helpful staff, and great food.
2025/01/25 update: Unfortunately I had to drop my rating of this establishment significantly after tonight. We were told it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait. We waited for more like 40 minutes. There were two hostesses that kept disappearing, chatting and ignoring the front. When somebody brought the wait time up to the hostess with the septum piercing's attention she gave them attitude. I saw at least three waiters hanging out doing nothing in the doorway of the kitchen at one point. Well over half the tables were empty and cleared. They've reprinted their menus, and their prices have gone up while their portion sizes have gone down. Our waitress was pretty good. However, all three of my sides with the chicken fried steak came out just above room temperature. They took it back to the kitchen and microwaved it. The CC machine wanted to know the 1-10 temp of the food. I kind of grunted as I hit a number 3. I told the cashier why, but she just tried to give me excuses about large parties. I've seen every table in that place full on a Sunday afternoon, and it ran smoother, and my food was all hot and fresh. It was like none of the staff wanted to be there today, and there was no sign of a manager keeping them in check. It felt like the movie "Waiting". Typically this restaurant is on the top of our list for options when going out, but I'd say it's tier two or three now. Honestly if I didn't have my wife with me, I would have left and gone to Brisket Love.
Update again. It's been over an hour since dinner, and my wife is saying her stomach hurts and she's been to the bathroom twice, I guess the chicken tenders are not sitting...
Read moreBeen here tons of times so I decided to review it. First off the food is always great here. There’s always plenty to look at with all the things on the walls. Gift shop is big and packed full although prices can be high on a lot of stuff. There is a lot of good edible items to choose from that you don’t normally see so that’s a huge plus. Recently they just added a lot of things to the menu and some are permanent and some seasonal. I tried one today and that was the cheesy bacon homestyle fried chicken. It was very good. It had fried chicken with bacon, onion strings, green onion, cheese, diced tomatoes, and ranch drizzled on top. Sides were whole kernel corn and the best one which is hash brown casserole. Definitely my favorite side ever. Also had side house salad they brought out before the meal. You have a choice when you get drinks to have cornbread or biscuits or both brought out. That’s always hit or miss with us. Cornbread is usually the best if it’s fresh and hasn’t been sitting a while. The other plate in the picture was meatloaf with macaroni and cheese and broccoli. Everything I have tried here is very good comfort food and they also serve breakfast all day as well. Either way you can’t go wrong depending on what you are in the mood for. Katy was our waitress tonight and she was fantastic. She was very attentive great at her job. She was quick with getting everything out and always refilled drinks before they were down too far. She had a smile on her face and seemed to enjoy what she does. Always recommend here when looking for good country meal with great service and...
