So tonight my wife and I visited Abigail's for the first time. I wont make location an issue because I'm not prissy and will eat in the middle of the hood is the food is on point... But the reality is this.. My wife scheduled reservations 2 days ago for 7 pm... When we arrived 10 minutes early tonight it was jam packed..As it was expected if the food is good then it should be jam packed...But here is where my problem lies... The host didnt even have our reservation on his list.. And then after awaiting nearly 40 minutes they first seated us.....In all actuality the place is too small to handle the influx of reservations and walk ins..The owner and mgr would like to handle as many folks who are willing to wait it out if possible but in reality that will never happen of course... Based on his setup he should be turning away folks as his situation is a recipe for disaster in regards to angry customers... Was the food good? yes it was but based on the fact of how long we had to wait to with reservations it makes it not worth it to go back...I cannot speak for everyone but as a father of 2 young ones who has a babysitter for a few hours on a Sat nite I simply cannot afford nor will I wait for 40 mins with reservations... to make matters even worse mgmt should have certainly done the right thing by accommodating on the bill or doing something nice to show gratitude to a new customer for botching my reservations but they didn't...Just goes to show they could care less about my business and if I ever return or not...I wish them all the best but they won't stay in business for long if they dont take care of their customers...I...
Read moreThis place has no parking, however, there is parking across the street in a gas station according to a sign on the door which didn’t help as I was driving. Only saw the sign after parking a block away on a side street. We entered into a bar area that seemed quite loud for such a small area, but it wasn’t an issue at that moment. We were greeted, seated at a two top, one of several in a row which were pretty close to each other. Being that the tables were so close, those around us appeared to be part of our table. Plus the noisy bar area does interfere while talking at our table. The place is ablaze in orange, different, but was still very nice and enticing. Now to the food….the bread and butter that was served was not very good. The bread was stale and the butter did not taste like real butter; so we skipped it altogether (a 1st). We ordered two entrees, filet mignon with Madeira wine sauce and steak Gorgonzola, both were fantastic. The filet was accompanied by sautéed green beans, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, yellow squash and a copious amount of mashed potatoes with a delicious sauce. The filet was perfectly cooked to order and was actually larger than usual. The skirt steak, as pictured didn’t seem to be that much. When I began to dig in I noticed that the steak was folded over which was actually about three to four times larger than shown in the picture. Again, the steak was cooked perfectly to order. Both dishes were excellent and based on the entrees we had, we would like to go back again to try several of the other enticing dishes on the menu. The parking, noise and the bread basket kept it from being...
Read moreThis is a Restaurant and Bar that refers to itself as American and European. The menu has a mixture of Polish and Portuguese. I believe originally it was owned by a married couple who happened to be Polish and Portuguese. Therefore that marriage led to its diverse menu. It was later sold to one of the workers who is Ecuadorian and kept many of the restaurant’s favorites.
Today we had the Polish cuisine. The waiter and waitress were attentive and professional. They shared the history of the restaurant.
We were happy to their large selection of beers especially the Polish beer which is a favorite of mine. They brought some bread and butter. The bread appeared to be a little stale and wasn’t tasty.
We asked about their pierogi and were told they purchase them from an outside supplier so we elected not to order them. We asked about their potato pancakes which are homemade. They were 4 pieces and thicker than we had at other Polish restaurants. They were good but missed the mark for us.
Next was the Polish pork cutlet served with mashed potatoes and three salads ( beets, coleslaw and red cabbage).
The mashed potatoes were fresh and creamy. The salads were fresh and tasty.
The pork cutlet was a little overcooked and dry. It was thicker than we were accustomed too.
The restaurant was cheerful and a nice decorative. The place is clean and well lit. The bar is well stocked. The restaurant also has outdoor seating.
There is no parking lot but the restaurant has parking arrangements with gasoline station across the street.
We would go back again and try their Portuguese selection but pass on the...
