No bueno. Read the reviews & chose this place for dinner. Bad choice. Food was ok - Chile relleno was smothered in a sauce that was SO spicy, even after I scraped it off I still couldn't eat it. My hubs likes spicy & even he said caliente. The carne asada was delicious. Milanesa & ceviche was blah. Service was soo slow. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant on a Friday night. Many tables open and two of us were sat at a tiny 2-top table right under a loud stereo speaker, we could hardly hear each other. There were three other 4-tops next to us that sat empty the entire time we were there, while we were cramped at our little loud table. They actually tried to cram our entrees on the table while we still had our apps, & there was simply no room. Kind of absurd. Appetizer platter, Waters, margaritas, flatware, plates, napkins, menus on a table so tiny - don't even THINK of resting a hand, elbow, or cell phone... Dining out should be a relaxing experience, not a balancing act. Ultimately, the busser had to take our check bc our server disappeared. So the food was ok, but service & ambience sucked. Not going back, and can't recommend it.

We absolutely love El Gran Agave! The food is always amazing—especially the flautas/taquitos, they’re our favorite and so delicious every time. We’ve enjoyed meals there as a family and with a group, and the experience has always been fantastic. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is great. We’ve also had their food that was catered for events we have attended, and it was just as tasty and fresh as dining in. Highly recommend whether you’re looking for a night out or planning a special gathering!

They catered a small gathering for us. The food was amazing! Everyone loved everything and kept saying it was the best Mexican food they’ve had! They did not disappoint!! And, also, allergy friendly. Catered to our allergies and everyone was fine. This is my favorite place, by far, to dine!! I was only able to share one picture of the condiments, the other picture did not turn out. We had chicken enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, steak tacos, Street corn, rice, and refried beans. Delicious!!!

I am giving my perceptions and experience. Visit was Dec 20, 2017 at 7pm. This is the first time I've been here, so it doesn't mean my experience defines the resturante. A server seated us took our coffee and water drink order and never came back. Another server came to us to take our order and we told her the other server came. We waited over 20 minutes nothing came. Finally I flagged down another women and she did immediately take our food order. After she helped us it got better. She brought us our drinks but I had requested water no ice , it had ice. The 3rd woman did check on us and serve my requests lime and extra napkins. But overall it was slow and another table wasn't happy. We deducted that possibly one server was new. But we don't know. The food was ok. We requested the steak medium and it was well. If you ivercook skirt steak it's tough. I wanted to order a cocktail but after waiting so long and the service I decided not to. Good thing the table that came before us didn't get their drinks in forever a wait. The decor is half classy and half hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that's my opinion . The typical Mexican gate door is very authentic, but it makes you feel like Is this a service door? Because there is frosted glass behind the iron gates. I will give it one...

Looked forward to this restaurant opening for a year since I moved to Lisle. Went there the week after opening and had a mediocre experience that snowballed into something worse later on. I ordered a steak burrito and quacamole and a Blue Moon. It was $15 and that didn't even include rice and beans for whatever reason since every other burrito did but the meat was beyond stuff. Do to how long I waited I ate the whole thing, mediocre as it was but the Guac was awful. Half onion with some mashed avocado. My beer was transparent and mostly water. I complained but they didn't take the beer off the bill so I finished it. My girlfriend's food was horrendous. Bland, flavorless chicken tacos. They wouldn't take the guac off but at least took her tacos off after an exchange with the condescending manager. We reviewed on facebook and just went on about our day. Months later we received slanderous replies from their page accusing us of being homeless cheapskates who try to dine for free with bad reviews and on top of that accused us of being investigated by the DEA of all things? They blocked us when they recieved negative feedback for how they treated us. It's one thing to have bad food but this is something out of...
