Von's Barbecue — Restaurant in Lithonia

DONE!!! Me and my husband from Jax. FL. were in Lithonia today on business and had a taste for some real, good BBQ. Googled and found what others say was some good BBQ. Been searching a long time for the real BBQ that doesn't taste processed. We drove to Von's and told Gregory, the owner, why we were there. Such a nice man, he was so nervous as he took our order because we told him we would be reviewing his food. Finally the food was served and it was awesome!!! I thought it would be dry and old tasting since it was after 6 when we arrived but to our surprise the ribs were quite tasty and juicy. The smoke flavor was awesome and the ribs were very tender. We had the collard greens and cole slaw as sides and we were very thankful there wasn't the taste of sugar in either. Normally when I order a rib dinner, my husband gets the remaining half but not this time. I ate the entire 4 rib plate and the sides! If you're looking for some good, real BBQ stop on by....you'll be glad...

I'm going to be really honest, as usual! The BBQ which is the main attraction is not giving for me. First the meat was hard and chewy. The BBQ sauce disgusting i absolutely hated it. I ordered rib tips and they were very much hard. I ordered a chopped chicken sandwich didn't care for it either. First most of everyone the menu wasn't available and it was 2pm they close at 5-6 pm that day. I kept chasing things and they didn't have it. The menu listed is pre covid. The sides are a la carte. The meat portions are good but the BBQ was bland hard and the BBQ sauce does it no justice. I got a sweet tea and could taste soap it wasn't cleaned properly. The potato salad was decent the okra was good and hot. I spent almost $30 on two plates and was very very much disappointed. Never again! After a long day of airplanes and automobiles, I decided to try out Von’s BBQ. Boy am I glad I tried it! 😋. Von’s Barbeque is absolutely delicious! My ribs from my dinner plate literally fell off the bone and the savory smoke flavored meat melted in my mouth! My kids are picky eaters but had no problem scarfing the food down their throats! All of the sides were delicious and truly comforting food to our souls!The restaurant has a welcoming family style ambiance! The restrooms were clean too! Southern hospitality at its best.
