It's almost impossible to screw up fresh seafood from Maine but they did. Extremely obvious inexperienced cooks in the restaurant .The owner should read everyone's reviews because it's the owner's fault this is the easiest business to be in New England .I am a culinary chef .I have owned New England Seafood Restaurants in the past. I asked how big are the clam bellies she said they were just arrived an hour ago from Maine . I said great what size of the clam bellies she said half a dollar size . I said great just what i was wanting .Are your sea scallops big she says they're huge I'll take the Bro combo belly clams and scallops. The clam bellies were the size of a dime then they overcooked them they were so chewy. I thought it was gum could not eat them .By the way they gave me six clams four tiny scallops my next question to the waitress was how many ounces of clams and how many ounces of scallops do you give for this $32 platter she goes we don't way out the seafood so they give four scallops 6 clams. I said that's ridiculous you have to weigh your Seafood you can't give jumbo scallops out with outweighing them. If you did weigh them I probably would have had 10 they were so small, six overcooked clams with the bellies the size of a dime their tartar sauce with 98% mayonnaise and a little bit of relish no seasoning whatsoever their coleslaw was that bag slaw and all they added was Mayo no salt no pepper I didn't even eat my meal and I told the waitress that still charge me $32 my wife got the baked stuffed haddock it looked great At first she goes this is really good but after a minute or two that bucket of butter they poured in that the baking dish made it so oily her stomach didn't feel good for about an hour after the meal the waitress was very sweet but never came by that asked to refill our drinks all she had was two tables once again it's extremely difficult to screw up fresh seafood and no spice whatsoever no system on weighing out your Seafood to make sure your customer gets what they're paying for people who count by the piece have never been in the business only rookies would do that we were really looking forward to getting fresh seafood other than Jamie Lynn's in Woodsville which is phenomenal this is the kind of restaurant that one day is good the next day it's horrible the reason they have one day it's good it's because it's fresh seafood and they might get lucky prepared right shame on the owner for not having proper training for the staff you need to bring in a consultant . This place has a great opportunity with its location and once again fresh seafood if this restaurant fails the owner only has themselves to blame not the economy not the employees not the location cuz all of those are just right it's you the owner don't get on your staff when you read this just because you taste something and you think it's good look at your customers coming in and read all of those reviews we read the reviews and I said fresh seafood how can you screw that up well they managed good luck in your business venture and I really hope you turn things around cuz we could really use a nice place here in Littleton also the dining room tables half of the legs going to the floor all rusted what if somebody has their shorts on and reach their legs out and gets cut where a little kid goes on a dance and scratches themselves on that rust rust should never be in a restaurant you're going to get people...
Read moreWe came to Surf Shack for lunch craving fried clams. If you read my reviews, you can tell I’m a big fan of lobster rolls. The first thing that caught my eye was the lobster roll flight. I should have known better, though.
What we got: Lobster roll flight Fried clams dinner
The lobster roll flight is served as an appetizer and doesn’t come with any sides. It was lobster prepared 3 ways. Classic butter, wine sauce, and a jalapeño mayo. The classic was good, the wine sauce was bad, and the jalapeño mayo overwhelmed the lobster flavor. It would be better as a classic mayo with a drizzle of the jalapeño sauce. In all 3, the lobster was overcooked and the portion was small.
The fried clams were delicious. About 9 or 10 in total. A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get.
The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren’t looking to drink; her energy just didn’t match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed “FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!” and then rushed off.
Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for...
Read more100% going back! I have not had seafood that was as good and fresh since the last time in Maine! We placed a to go order. 4 people under $80.00. The smash burger with fries was a good portion and delicious 👍 The fried chicken Sammy was huge, excellent 👍 The RIPPAH with your choice of 3 types of fried seafood, We chose scallops, whole belly clams and fried shrimp. 👍 My favorite were the shrimp! The scallops lightly breaded, juicy and firm and fresh not frozen. You could tell how fresh everything was. Nothing pre-battered, and frozen. It kinda reminded me of the Clam Shell. They serve hush puppies that are delicious with an incredible sauce, better than what I had in NC. Their coleslaw is delicious with golden raisins. The fries were crispy and delicious. I think they make the tartare sauce it was prefect. We put them to the test. We went in and ordered just a small order of fried Scallops, one bite we were sold! I want to try the calamari and chowder next. The Hostess/server was very pleasant and accommodating. The atmosphere inside is cute and roomy. If they keep doing what they’re doing they will be a success. This is definitely a winner and I highly...
