We went to this cafe for the first time this last Friday. We walked in and stood there and was looking around to see if we needed to seat ourselves or be seated. A customer turned around and said we could seat ourselves so we sat down. One of the servers walked by the cash register and I believe said something about us just sitting down to her coworkers. She took our order and brought our drinks. We had a couple of questions and our server was not real friendly and seemed to be in a hurry and not happy with being there. Our food took about 45 minutes to get and the presentation and taste was not the best. While we were eating, there were women standing around the cash register talking negatively about some people. I'm not sure if the people were coworkers or others, but it was very unprofessional and within earshot of numerous customers. Then we got our check, I thought it was pretty high for what we got. When I went to pay, I asked for a menu so I could look at the prices again, I used the excuse that I was thinking about ordering something to go and our server and a couple of other staff that were standing there said we are closed and have been closed, we are not taking any to go orders and I said ok and decided not to look at the menu. So in summary, the service was terrible, their attitudes were terrible, the time it took to get our food was terrible, and the food taste and quality was probably a four out of ten. Needless to say, we will...
Read moreNeeded a breakfast/lunch option on our way home from Houston that wasn't fast food...and Alma's did not disappoint. Family of 4 (youngest 12 years) ordered the ham and cheese omelet which was full of ham and cheese and cooked to perfection, half order of French toast (1 slice cut in 2) so if you're hungry go for the full order as nothing else came with it, the short pancake stack (2 pancakes) that were super yummy, light and I would have eaten it all if I didn't share, and lastly husband ordered the Truly Amazing Rueben which he said was the best he's ever eaten and he's tried several from around the US and the onion rings were just as great...I think he wanted to talk to the chef to see how they were made they were so good. Sweet tea was just how us southern girls like it and the coffee was "very good" from the family coffee expert/critic. They were a little busy so service was hit and miss, but VERY polite and we were able to wave the waitress down for help and she didn't skip a beat. Bathrooms were clean and there are cute little shops next door if you need to kill time. Easy to find, lots of parking and employees were friendly. I think we've found our food spot when we have to travel to Houston!...
Read moreWe saw this place online, and so we tried. Didn't feel comfortable or safe. The waitress acted like she didn't want to serve us. She gave us the menu, and she then came back not quickly. Took our order and skipped town until our order was ready. When the order was ready, that was the last she visited us, but we did have to call her over bc the bacon was still moving. Didn't come to see if we needed refills on juice. We had to get up and get napkins and our on to go plate. So then we called her over to get our receipt . By that time, we were thur with this place. The tip matched the service. On the receipt, it puts down tip. I am wondering if a tip is for bad service or good. I guess she was too busy looking at our skin color. This was on a Sunday, and it wasn't like this place was even busy. We entered from the rear due to 4 parking spots full. In my opinion, I wouldn't visit if you're not an old red neck, sorry. Treat all customers equal, and maybe they will return. African...
