I like many of you, like using the review score when making purchase decisions. I never just look at the score. I look for the number of reviews and I try to find helpful reviews to give me more incite into what I may be getting into. My wife works in a business where the reviews really matter for bringing in new customers. She often talks about the long-time customers who keep returning but have never left a review. Those are really the voices that should matter more to people who want an honest review of the company they are looking into.
Unfortunately, even though I like looking at reviews, I seldom leave one unless I'm very satisfied with the company or really disappointed. In both cases, I leave my emotions aside and tell things as I experience them. This means that if everything wasn't perfect, I don't ding them for minor stuff. I give people the benefit of the doubt because we all have those days when we aren't at our best. When I read bad reviews about restaurants that I frequent often, I wonder about the person leaving the review. I feel that they are either competitors with malicious intent, someone who didn't try to listen to resolve whatever issues they perceived to be happening, or simply someone who's looking for a reason and is too hard to please in the first place.
So with all that out of the way, let me get to the Lim's Star review. I love Chinese food and it's one of the first things I looked for locally when I bought my house 10 years ago. There are several in what I would consider my drivable area. Lim's Star is in my top 5 or higher depending on what dish I'm looking for. 10 years means I've been coming there since before the current owner. Do I miss the dinner rolls? Not really, since I get better quality food and personalization of meals on request. The new owner knows us on sight and remembers what we like to order. He even allows us to modify the ingredients to our liking. He is very friendly and will engage in small talk to get to know his customers better. We eat at or buy takeout from Lim's Star at least once a month, sometimes more. Has everything always been perfect? No, but I really can't recall the last time I was dissatisfied with my order or service. Based on my long review, I'm hoping you can tell I have had many enjoyable meals from and experiences with Lim's Star. Seriously!

Read moreMy wife and I moved to the area four years ago, and as huge fans of Chinese cuisine, our quest for that perfect bite has been relentless. We made it our mission to try a new Chinese restaurant every Friday, hoping to find a place that could sate our cravings for authentic flavors and crispy delights. Sadly, we began running out of local options faster than we anticipated, and more often than not, we were disappointed.
One of the major issues we faced was the pervasive presence of soggy Chinese food in the area. There's nothing more disheartening than biting into what you expect will be a crispy egg roll, only to be met with a chewy, damp wrapper. Similarly, wet rice and limp fried dishes often marred our dining experiences, leaving us longing for the quality we desired.
However, our culinary misadventures came to a delightful end when we discovered Lim's Star. Finally, a restaurant that understands the importance of texture and flavor! Lim's Star has become our go-to spot for Friday take-out. Their egg rolls are a revelation—perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, they crunch satisfyingly with every bite. It's not just the egg rolls; all their fried dishes have that desirable crispness that had been so elusive in other establishments.
While Lim's Star might not be the best Chinese restaurant in Michigan, it is undoubtedly the crown jewel of our local dining scene. It's a place where the quality of food stands out amid the sea of mediocre offerings. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or adventurous enough to try some of their unique creations, Lim's Star consistently delivers on both quality and taste.
For anyone in the area longing for Chinese cuisine done right, Lim's Star is a must-try. They've turned our Friday nights into a culinary festivity we eagerly look forward to all week. After years of searching, it feels great to say we've finally...
Read moreSome years ago, i was in a dark part of my life and my aunt took me in. This was hands down her favorite Chinese restaraunt and as i would come to know, it was for good reasons. A few years later when i got back on my feet my boss kept talking about this place, but didn't realize it was THIS place, so when we showed up here the smile on my face was from ear to ear. it's been a lot of years since then, and the world has changed, my aunt passed, i've gotten several new jobs, the world survived covid, and I have teenagers of my own now. Now with covid over i've been taking my kids to the places my aunt liked most. This saturday it was here. It was almost exactly as i remember it. There has been a lot of hate in feedback for this restarant recently, and i do not believe it is warranted or truthful. I'm not going to say it was as good as my memories, but its better than many/most other chinese restaraunts and certainly undeserving of the 1 and 2 star reviews by haters. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and received a HUGE portion piled 4 inches high on a decent sized plate. It was enough to fill me there, and to take home for lunch the next day. Unlike many other restaraunts, it wasn't mostly addons (peppers, onions, etc), it was almost all chicken! The table recieved a huge bowl of white rice to put our meals on. it was excellent! If your the person that decides where to eat based on reviews, I respectfully suggest you stop making choices based on wildly different reviews here and enjoy dinner to find our for yourself which reviews are honest, and...
