Bonchon Lodi — Restaurant in Lodi

My wife and I frequently drive by this place and we decided to try it, I mean who doesn't love chicken? Well...Vegetarians don't lol

Interior atmosphere is clean and cozy, the bathroom is spotless. There's table service. This night the staff was playing amazing music from the 80' & 90's! Such as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Jam, etc.. It was highly entertaining!

We sat down, the menu cover has a wooden feel which we appreciated that detail. Once we opened the menu, we liked that the menu has images and a detailed description of every meal, very helpful.

For appetizer we decided on Takoyaki which is fried Octopus inside a golden crispy ball covered in Japanese Mayonnaise and Katsu sauce with sprinkles of Bonito flakes. We received plenty of Takoyakis, they were perfectly crispy on the outside and the Octopus were tender on the inside, the sauce and flakes gave it extra flavor.

We decided to share our entrees we both ordered the Medium Combo, which is 10 Chicken Wings and 5 Chicken Drumsticks. We decided to go half & half for the sauces. Our wings were Spicy and Drumsticks were Soy Garlic. Both were crispy, even with the sauce. The wings were very spicy, so much so, that it made me tear up a bit lol I had to get a Calpico drink (Yogurt base drink) to soothe my palate... My wife couldn't handle the heat at all! But that's the way I like my spicy chicken, on fire!. The drumsticks were so tasty and full of garlic flavor.

Then we got the Bulgogi Bibimbap which is beef, rice, quinoa, vegetables and red pepper paste. She enjoyed this dish so much, she said that it the be7ef was tender and delicious, the vegetables were cooked properly, the quinoa was soft. She lived this dish the most, so much so that she was claiming it for her own, but she eventually shared and allowed me a taste of our "shared" meal and I agree it was excellent!

Gus did an outstanding job as our waiter, this young man was very polite, amiable, kind and helpful. We had an excellent and enjoyable time. We will definitely come back to...

I ordered take out from this location on December 5th,2024 since it’s the closest to my job. My order was placed at around 4:15 pm on a Thursday through their website and pick up was supposed to be at 5pm. I got there around 4:50 from work and was told it would be done in 20 minutes. I didn’t mind waiting a little longer but it was just me and one other person and it’s not like they had people getting take out orders while I was waiting so that was strange. At 5:30 I started to get a bit irritated at the fact that it was taking so long and being told 5-10 minutes over and over again. As it got closer to 6 I just said forget it and wanted a refund and the cashier said she didn’t know how to give me one. When I asked for the manager, she went to go talk to him and she came back with “he said he would give you the refund but it would take a few days” since he didn’t want to speak to me. They said I would be receiving in the next few days, but that’s expecting a lot coming from this crew.

I have gotten food from this place and the food was good at some point, but it has gone downhill and it shows with lack of customers every time I’ve been there.

I would stay away from this location. The incompetence definitely stems from owner to managers down to the employees and it shows in their food and time management. I’ve been waiting on a refund for over 3 months while talking to different employees who answer the phone and getting nowhere. I’ve been to the store 3 different times as well and the manager is never there which says a lot about management or lack there of. Find a different location with a better rating and better service.

Only giving 2 stars because this place was good and for awhile i had no problem or complaints. It was my favorite chicken place because i love the soy garlic chicken they serve and they have good fries. But starting in November i would say, i started seeing hairs on my food. I thought this was a one time thing and had to be accident, they wouldn’t put a hair on my fries on purpose. Most times i ordered Bonchon from this location after that i spotted a hair on my chicken or fries, at least 1 each instance and once it was a really long hair and it disgusted me so bad. I really didn’t ever wanna eat at this location ever again, however now at this point i had taken a break from eating there for at least a month so i decided to try it once more hoping that my food would come without someones hair and conditions has improved, i was wrong. I ordered from this location today and i open my soy garlic tenders to find 3 hairs in the box, 2 hairs on 1 piece and 1 on another piece. Not only is this horrible and just so unsanitary, but why am i consistently getting hairs in my food??? Who’s hair do i keep getting in my food ?? Honestly made me not want to eat what i ordered and i will not be ordering Bonchon at all. Yes i do have proof of hairs, i took a picture.

UPDATE: So it seems as if to hide my negative review/experience 4 fake accounts were created and all 4 of them gave 5 star reviews all at the same time, i was early enough to check and see that they all posted the review at the same time. Of course naturally those reviews were responded to while my matter went unaddressed. Highly unprofessional and just such a shame to see from an establishment...
