Thought I'd give another try, what a mistake. Had the prime rib special, end cut. Tough as he'll, way to salty and extremely dry. The mashed potatoes and veggies were cold.
Avoid this place!!
Okay, please understand that I'm not trying to show malice by any means, especially in these unprecedented times. I'm trying to do just the opposite, help the owners. My 3 stars is solely based on the fish and chips (way over battered for the small amounts of fish at $16) that I just ate this evening. My 3 star rating is really quite generous by my opinion to be honest. However I've had many sandwiches(by the way, your burgers are not Kobe beef style, they are Waygu....google it if you don't believe me) here which totally deserve 4 stars, no question about that rating.( A quick note my server tonight was a young lady named Hali and she provided excellent sevice!) On the other hand I've tried the rib eye which would garner a 2 star rating. Sorry, I have to compare things to my past experiences.... Ruth Chris ( even Texas Roadhouse) and other major steakhouse chains (price vs quality). Again trying to help. Just so you know I've eaten everything from street tacos in Tijuana Mexico ( probably the meat was dog, but not bad) to Kobe steaks at Cut steakhouse in Beverly Hills to the French Laundry in Napa (incredible food and it should be for a $600 dinner right). So my objective in this way too long of a review, is to try and get some Lodi restaurants to kick it up a notch with respect to variety and quality. Note that I have had conversations with other local Lodi restaurants owners regarding my desires to try and raise the food quality of Lodi up to a higher level. I believe the local demographics can easily support this upward adjustment even in these bizarre times. Again I'm only trying to help, in my opinion the central valley is an epicurean wasteland and there's just no reason for that to be occurring. With the nice local wines why not have restaurants matching the vino levels of quality. One last suggestion, being a lover of sushi, would someone please open or add to their menu sushi that is fresh (several local restaurants achieve this but their product vs price is a joke and a rip off). Make a roll that doesn't just have the stand fake crab or shrimp tempura along with minimal raw fish on top. Add some raw fish for crying outloud and add a few bucks to the price! Thank you reading my laborious review! Stay well all! Oh also (I'm in the civil/transportation engineering business) those plastic barriers that are now being used throughout the City are dangerous! There is no way in hell that they would stop a slow moving vehicle with a driver not paying attention, texting/talking, who meanders into them and continues into the seating patrons. THESE BARRIERS SHOULD BE PER CALTRANS STANDARDS, THEY CALL THEM K OR JERSEY BARRIERS WHICH ARE PINNED INTO THE PAVEMENT. NOTHING ELSE WORKS.....TOO MUCH LIABILITY INVOLVED, BE...
Read moreExceedingly poor treatment of patrons. TLDR: they waited until our party of 7 got through their 45-min waitlist to tell us that they wouldn't seat our party together, and then scolded us for fitting all of the provided chairs around our separate tables.
We put our names on a wait list for the patio for a group of seven, and when we were called and brought to their patio that consists only of two- and three seat tables, they told us that they would not move tables together for us (despite them being right next to each other, and with no explanation about why), so we would need to sit separately. We were disappointed but seated ourselves anyway. We had to scoot one table out a few inches to fit in the extra chair, which they'd angled on a corner where someone would not properly fit to eat. Then after the hostess eyed us when bringing menus, a teen busboy (not the hostess or our server) was sent out to tell us that it had to be moved back to where it was because this cement outdoor table was "too fragile to be moved". Not only was it nonsensical, it was poor form to send the lowest ranked person rather than the manager to deliver this message. He was untrained and unskilled in customer relations, interrupting us multiple times but also confused about the reasoning for the orders he'd been given. (In my waitstaff days I'd have despised working for restaurant management who didn't support and back up their staff.)
We weren't interested in being treated like we were naughty for trying to fit at our tables, so we left. Disappointed in...
Read moreJust want people to beware of this place. I don't normally complain about places nor take the time to even write a review because if I don't like a place I just won't go back. Anyways, I came here about two weeks ago, and I got food poisoning. I ordered the tri tip sandwich, and after taking my first bite, I immediately felt sick. I took a couple of more bites because I was really hungry, and I didn't think it would be a big deal. Then I felt even more sick. I ended up eating about a quarter of the sandwich and then left for home. Upon getting home, I puked and had diarrhea. Later that night, I puked again and had diarrhea for the next three days and had to miss three days of work. I also went to my doctor, and he just told me to drink lots of water until it passes through my system. One can only do so much when it comes to food poisoning. More than likely the food was old or wasn't properly stored. This could've just been a fluke, but I did get really sick from here and want everyone to just be cautious. The beer is actually really good though.
Update: I've been here several times since my first review and haven't gotten food poisoning. The food is pretty solid and the beer is really good. Unfortunately, the service can be...
