Was really looking forward to this meal as my sister has eaten here before.
Appetizers were excellent. Half baguette was warm, and compote was great. The charcuterie platter was fresh and abundant.
Dinner was disappointing on so many levels.
I ordered the wagyu beef burger with fries and avocado. The waiter asked if I wanted bacon, and two of us answered, "No, just avocado." What came was just bacon. Had to ask for avocado and then was charged for bacon I didn't ask for.
Sister had steak dinner with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. What she got was a steak, with cold mashed potatoes and (literally) charred black broccoli florettes. She mentioned this to the waiter, and he agreed that the order was wrong. He returned 10 minutes later with plain, unroasted (microwaved?) asparagus with no seasoning and less flavor. The potatoes were still cold.
My wife ordered the pork chop, which was wonderful, but again, her sweet potatoes were cold.
I regularly pay 200.00 for dinner and if I get a 200.00 meal, then I have no problem paying. If I feel I've gotten my monies worth, I've often tipped a hundred bucks on that occasion. Tonight was not that.
Feel bad for my sister as she had talked Norman's up all day, only to be left disappointed.
Unfortunately I won't be giving it a...
Read moreFirst time here. Playing was drab, but tasteful and very homey. Bridgett, our server, was one of the best we've had in a long, long time. Patient, not rushy, accommodating and cheerful. Host was a little dismissive, but kind, nonetheless. Ordered of slew of beverages and menu items. Mac and cheese could have used a bit more sauce, and flavors. Perhaps seasoning? Also the cheese could have been melted better. The cornbread was fire! Probably the best I've had, with wagyu talo. Sort of sick of the hot honey phase, but this hit. The maldon was the percent touch. Spicy, salty, sweet and fatty. Hit all the buttons. Sous vide confit duck was brilliant. Again, very high up on the best ever list. Could have been a little hotter. Cauliflower needed some pizazz. Pretty plain. (Oh, also Mac and cheese could've had more chorizo, although the flavor was bangin!) Prawn risotto was great! Prawns were not over cooked, which is typical. Good consistency and beautiful acidity. The absolute best thing was the turnip soup. Curry, I believe it was. Soft potatoes for some chew, but very nice consistency. Easily one of the best soups I've had. Different, yet familiar. We'll definitely be back. When the line at Flatbread is too long and you don't feel like paying for an overpriced, bought Michelin...
Read moreHad a fantastic dinner experience at Norman. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Skyview property and didn’t want to venture out again after a long day of wine tasting so we decided to try the restaurant attached to our hotel and it was such a great decision.
Starting off with the yellowfin crisps, the freshness of all the ingredients were perfect. You can really taste all the different flavors from the fish to the Japanese slaw to the soy glaze. Everything sat on crispy, airy, fried won tons. Great appetizer to start the meal off with.
Kept it simple and ordered the Bates Burger and that exceeded my expectations as well. The American wagyu beef was so tender and juicy. The caramelized onions were done perfectly, and the creamy garlic aioli was the perfect extra layer to this phenomenal burger.
For dessert we ordered the cookie skillet which was on special that night. Very warm cookie with firm edges and very soft and melty inside with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was the perfect way to finish off our meal.
Will absolutely come back to eat here again in the future. Highly recommend if you’re...
