Marvel's Bakery — Restaurant in Long Beach Township

My family frequented Marvel’s Market back in the day for it’s fabulous donuts and friendly service. It was an iconic part of our trip. Years later, as an adult, I was excited to share Marvel’s Bakery with my husband and in-laws. While I will say that the donuts are still fabulous and worth the trip, I’m sorry to say that the rest of the establishment does not meet expectations. We gave it a few chances this week and we’re met with subpar (and actually kind of abrasive) service. We had several family members report at different times that they were spoken to harshly and that the staff was overall (not everyone, but select members) were impatient and very impolite. At the realization that the ATM surcharge was the same as the cost of a breakfast sandwich, one of the older employees invited herself into the conversation and commented that we’d pay three times as much for a breakfast sandwich in AC. (That wasn’t our point... and we’re not deterred by the surcharge. We were, however, irked by this employee’s imposition into our conversation.)

I also wish I could report that the breakfast sandwiches were fabulous, but they weren’t. Frozen egg patties were used along with bagels that seemed stale.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to see this business thrive. My family was heartbroken when the market was torn down and I was thrilled to hear of a new era for Marvel’s. I write this more as a suggestion for the staff.... as someone who was singing this bakery’s praises before stepping in, and realizing upon my visit that there’s still work to be done.

PLEASE go for the donuts, they are one of a kind and are so fun to watch being made. I am hopeful that your experience will find improved service and...

Hands down the best donuts in the world. I have brought dozens of people here over my years of coming and they immediately become converts. My family will buy trays of cinnamon sugar at the end of the season to freeze and heat up in the winter. Tony basically watched me grow up and still asks after my sister and my grandma every time I come in (which is every morning I’m in LBI if I can help it). My aunt brings these donuts to our boat mechanic and he’ll bump us up the list because they’re that good. An absolute LBI institution. No other donuts here or anywhere else—and probably because of Marvel’s I LOVE donuts and try them any chance I can—can hold a candle to Marvel’s. Thank you thank...

A wonderful variety of tasty treats and I would especially recommend the sugar donuts. There are choices for a breakfast which you can take and eat in the park that is adjacent to the bakery. Mr Marvel himself is friendly and helpful and seeks to offer wonderful customer service. He has been a long time resident in the Beach Haven Gardens area of LBI having had before a wonderful variety Meat Market small Deli. Don't miss the donuts if you're on the island they're fantastic.
