We had high hopes for this place but were let down hard! Started off with a phone call and spoke to a lovely lady who said come on, then greeted us with a smile that was wholeheartedly warm! Ordered apps, drinks and our food fairly quickly She had wonderful suggestions Water arrived and noticed black specks in the cup Easily fixed
12.99 for stuffed mushrooms- a lot pricey for four small mushrooms Really beet was cooked as ordered but left over 1/3 because of heavy fat, I have bought better steaks at Walmart with much less fat! Rolls were hard in the middle. Sweet potato fries were fresh and tasted good but the marshmallow dip was , umm more of a marshmallow water Small portions but food mostly tasted ok The icing on the cake was the owner’s son who was catching up with friends near our table. They were loud and seemed unaware that anyone else was there… it was their would sand we ALL are blest to live in it! I was using an app on my phone and this “human” walks up and walks me why I was videoing ? We had words and he was very unprofessional. I asked to speak to a manager, heard him talking with a female who initially said tell her come her, then decided he could handle it. He walks back and informs us, that there was no manager there that he was technically the manager and how could he help.wearing a wonderful little smirk. He was rude, told me about how wonderful the people weee that accused me of videoing them. “We’ve been friends with them for 35 years, one of the “ladies” mom cut a family members hair” oh and one of the “men” was running for alderman, his wife or girlfriend took his beer and walked off offended because they thought I was videoing them. Again made aware I was not in fact videoing anyone… I was entering what I ate in my app on my phone, turned to the side due to glare from the light overhead… these are fun upstanding Pilar’s of the community
He finally agreed he could have phrased his question differently but was still very loud and condescending I made a point of saying we would not be back and he walked off, yelled that that was my problem and was just self reflection that i could not get over the situation and accept his (weak attempt at an) apology But it gets better. As we are leaving, these amazing individuals and the owners son, Harrison, were videoing us as we walked out then appeared to snap pics of our tag. Harrison and his friends and unprofessionalism ruined...
Read moreCute place. This is a perfect example of location is everything. You can cook subpar food have a 5 star location and still stay in business. Atmosphere and cleanliness is very good. Staff is friendly. Not sure I'd have waiters on thier phones right at the front door as you walk in. With the quality of food and the motivation of the staff this place seems more like a retirement hobby than it does someone's dream of serving quality food. Not to say that the food is horrible cause it's not. It's an average menu that anybody could easily make the same quality at home. The chicken quesadilla is boring bland with a side of picante jar salsa and sour cream. They have a Philly cheese steak that is actually pretty decent but added lettuce and tomato to it? Why? Their Mac n cheese is from another planet. Not in a good way. Whomever makes noodles there obviously hates their job or has no idea what they are doing. Noodles are the consistency of mashed potatoes. Cheese sauce tastes like liquid onion powder. The food from this place lacks vision as if its coming from someone that enjoys cooking but lacks any form of training beyond a casual road side diner. My personal conclusion. If you are looking to entertain your family with children and seniors in your party. I'm sure they will be pleased with the simple sandwichs with fancy names and surprisingly good fries. The family time is more important. If you enjoy food and are looking for a consistent spot of favorites and surprises this is not for you. I would feel comfortable taking family here that loves to eat nothing but plain burgers and chicken nuggets.
It's rather disappointing since this venue has so much untapped potential. Especially since the atmosphere and staff are top notch. A seasoned experienced chef could really turn this diamond in the rough into a major attraction for...
Read moreThis is a nice, clean restaurant in downtown Long Beach. We eat here at least once a month, even if it's a pick up order. Most things on the menu are items you can get pretty much anywhere on the Gulf Coast, but there are some items that are unique. I wish the menu did have brief descriptions of the dishes like some other restaurants. I also wish the font on the menu was different, but that's just a personal preference.
This is a lovely place to meet with friends, family or work associates. You can sit outside if you like. I'm pretty picky about the cleanliness of places I eat and I'm very comfortable here. I can't recall one dish or appetizer that my family has ordered that we haven't been happy with at Bull's. The Smoked Tuna Dip is THE BEST on the MS Gulf Coast. They don't serve this with plain crackers or stale french bread. The serve it with Melba crackers/bread. It's the little extra effort like that which makes things so good at Bull's that you may not get elsewhere. I love the chicken salad. I know that sounds so simple, but it's delicious. The Chili and Gumbo are GREAT! Simple dishes that hit the spot when we have a cold weather day. These are even better when I'm sick and someone can pick up my order for me. My husband enjoys their steaks and has never complained once about the quality nor the preparation/cook time. That says A LOT if you know my husband. My teenagers are pretty picky eaters and they NEVER COMPLAIN about any food we order at Bull's.
Some may say it's a little pricey, but drive just down the beach in either direction and you'll find a REAL overpriced restaurant with much lower quality food. Its nice to have a nice, consistently clean restaurant with quality food (no matter what your taste or preferences) right here at home in Long Beach for lunches, dinners, or...
