I tried once more to make a reservation for two at 5 p.m. to watch the World Series, Dodgers vs. Yankees. This was stupid of me because I had a negative experience at this so called "sports bar" before. Who builds a sports bar, so some tables cannot see the sports on their T.V.s? stupid. I stopped going here for about a year and started going again recently since I live so close. I use to spend substantial money in this establishment, but was so put off by the inexplicable way they handle their reservations I stopped coming. I arrived at 5 p.m. when the game was starting. There were six open tables for two people. However, two of the tables were positioned against the wall under a T.V., so you cannot see it. The other four tables were empty. When I arrived the reception told me the only table she had was where i could not see a T.V. I pointed out that there were four open table for two people, why was she going to seat me at a table where I could not see a T.V. She pointed to one of the open tables and said it was reserved for 6:30 p.m.. I asked about the other three and she said they were reserved for later times also. I asked why can't I have the table now, because my reservation was for 5 pm, and the other reservation for 6:30 pm was 1 1/2 hours after the game started. The reservation system they use is Open-table, so you do not reserve a particular table, the 6:30 reservation was not for a particular table, same as me. The acting manager named Mike came over and told me why I could not have the table was because it was for a reservation for six and they were going to push the tables together. Mike quickly dropped this lie because it made no sense. This was obviously a lie because four people were already sitting next to the empty table for two, it was not true that there was some reservation for six. Mike then shifted to the ridiculous reason that they had a complicated system, so he understood why I could not have an empty table, but I could not understand because it was too difficult to understand. How insulting, especially since I am a lawyer. I told Mike that I was a lawyer, so I think I can understand complicated reasons, and then he started to flat out refuse to tell me the reason he would not seat me at one of the four empty two person tables. I asked him don't you think as a customer you should tell me the true reason he would not give me an empty table. Mike continued to refuse to provide me a reason for this discriminatory treatment. I told Mike that I was gong to post this incident on yelp and he said he did not care. Obviously, the staff was saving these places for their personal friends and were not honest enough to just admit it. This bar does not treat all its customers equally, and its manager, Mike is very dishonest, because he kept trying to give me B.S. reasons, and then when I kept making his B.S. reasons obviously false, he just refused to tell me a reason and pointed out he did not have to tell me why. This is not a good sports bar because they have tables where you cannot see the sports. I recommend the Firkin Pub, 3411 E Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803, because I have never had a bad experience there...
Read moreI always drive home past this restaurant and never really thought to stop in but one day I did and when I arrived, I arrived after 5 PM on a Friday and I was greeted at the door by a hostess, who was not so friendly and she asked me did I have a reservation and I said no she said that it would be about a two hour wait or we could sit at the already crowded bar. So I asked for a menu so that I could order my food to go she apparently was not happy at all when I sat at a nearby empty table to read the menu and make a decision because shortly after a waitress who was hustling and bustling about came up to me and asked why we were sitting there and I replied I want to take my food and go and she ordered us to go next door to an extension of their restaurant for to go orders. I was shocked I couldn’t believe the rude behavior all in the sake of empty tables smh. I get that people make reservations, but that table was literally empty and I was sitting there to try to make a decision not ever being in that restaurant before who knew that that was not the right thing to do. So I walked next-door and I ended up ordering a salad, a couple of cookies and ice cream. I took my food to go. The cookies were hard as rocks the ice cream is thrifty and overpriced and the salad was fresh but the shrimp was extremely salty. I did come back to give them the benefit of the doubt about three weeks later with a reservation of course and I ordered several things off the menu that took forever to come out.. I had The chili cheese fries, tacos, prime rib, a burger, a pretzel and again everything was extremely salty. The cheese and The beans are from a can and you can taste it their tacos were anything but a taco the burger came out cold and I don’t remember ever having prime rib so tough. I don’t recommend this restaurant because it’s crowded the people are rude there’s not enough parking and the food is overrated and extremely salty. This place is for regulars that probably tip big to get excellent customer service but if you’re a random visitor, you will be wasting your...
Read moreThe evening started off with cocktails. The pours were strong and, if beer is your thing, they have an extensive menu. However, after drinks everything went downhill. The fried zucchini was good. They come in large, thick spears, but the breading on them didn't have any flavor. Next the entrées. My kids ordered a hamburger meal and it came with an overcharred bun. The chicken strips were super bland and my daughter wanted fruit instead of fries. We asked our server, Cole, what fruit was in the fruit cup and he responded mellons and berries. When we got it, it was oranges, grapes, 2 cantaloupe, and some pineapple. They say they are known for their ribeye, but that is a joke. Mine was cut for me in strips for some reason and was paper thin. On the other hand, my sister's was twice as large and thick, but really fatty. They both tasted nothing like I would expect a promoted item woukd taste. We also got the halibut. It was strange as well. It had some like country fried steak gravy coating the top of it. The whole place just wasn't something we had in mind. When it came to ordering ice cream, again Cole gave us options. We ordered, and TWICE he came back saying they don't have those flavors! He mentioned 4 flavors. I ended up going next door and looking at the flavors and they had 8! Also the togo boxes are really small so get more if you plan to tasha food home. Not a great experience, so we...
