Straw Hat Pizza — Restaurant in Long Beach

Owners or managers, whatever they are, are miserable people. Have only been here twice and regretted coming back the second time. First time they were just pissy, didn't seem eager to want to help customers. No thank you, just grunts. Took my card, swiped it, handed it back without saying anything but the price. This latest time, I stood at the counter for 3-5 mins while the one in the hat and cargo shorts berated an employee. Something about not charging someone for something insignificant. When I asked if anyone was working the counter was told "in a minute!!" rudely. Asked her if she understood that making a customer wait while you berate your staff was not good customer service and she looked at me like she wanted to punch me. If running that place is sucking the soul out of your life, quit, sell it, whatever you need to do. Because it shows that you're miserable...

*Edit... So the owner responds by calling me a liar instead of taking any kind of responsibility. Thats all you need to see there folks... That and all the other 1star reviews about THE SAME THING just means im 100% right... The sign on your door says you're closed on Monday's due to short staffing. Maybe that's because NO ONE wants to...

Recently made a trip to this straw hat location and as a first time customer who now lives locally, I will never be returning! My spouse called in the order before hand which I planned on picking up on the way home. Arrived and ended up waiting 30 mins in line. I even went up to an employee and asked if I had to wait seeing that the order had already been called in. She replied yes. Once I finally made it to the counter I suggested to the cashier that they should really have a separate line for those that had called in. She replied "oh you should have come straight to the front." REALLY!!! No apologizes or anything! This will be my first and last time visiting this restaurant! Additionally, before I wrote this review, I noticed that the business owner responded to a previous yelper who also had a negative experience. This business owner really needs to learn professionalism and how to provide customer service. I appreciate that you love your loyal local customers but a big part of growing your business (or staying in business for that matter) is to acknowledge mistakes and not provide excuses....

This is my initial review. My first visit to this location. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered an appetizer of jalapeno parmesan twists. They asked if I wanted them with the pizza or before. I would have liked to have a little more space between the two, they brought the twists and before I could even take a bite the pizza was delivered. The twists were very tasty and I look forward to trying the other flavors they have. I ordered the works pizza. It too was flavorful and had the right amount of toppings. I hoped I just picked an odd night and that it usually isn't like it was this night. It was overrun with young children running around screaming and yelling. It was very loud and made the time not too enjoyable. I was afraid to get up and refill my soft drink leaving my table unattended and afraid to get run into by the children.
