I could easily have given King Chef 4* if not more for their food quality. They're good, and I've enjoyed their food for the last 6 months or so as I needed to try something other than Ming Ying, Eastern Empire, or Magic Rice in OT where I live. Now, when I double check an order with the counter girl who confirmed all of it, and I find that upon getting home that not only are we missing a soup but not getting the brown rice, it prompted me to call. That's when it gets rich, no make that ridiculous. Not an apology. Just a 'what do you want me to do?'. After I told her what most places that Ive patronized would do, still nothing. Just 'dead air' on the other end of the line. My wife commented how at Eastern Empire they once forgot to include a soup and told her that they'd make good on it. We didn't order from them for a couple of months and honestly forgot about it. When my wife went to pick up the order, they remembered. See King Chef. They saw the incoming tel #, made a note, and stuck it on their board. That's customer service. That's doing the right thing. You're done in my book as you haven't a clue as to what it takes to run a business. Oh one other thing. I was the customer who asked what kind of fish do you use for your dishes as I attempted to order. And that addled, linguistically challenged and incompetent gal couldn't understand what I was asking. Suggestion. Don't let her take orders over the phone or you're going to lose...
Read moreI have been ordering from here for years .. never had a problem with them at all besides sometimes food wasn't well done or little stuff which most of the time the food is Really good, love the chicken wonton soup but last week I ordered & THEY forgot my fried noodles with the soup I ordered which was unexpected & were mad because they had to bring it back.. after that they no longer want to take orders from me or anything as far as that. I am pregnant & truly upset that one of the only Chinese places I order from won't let me order due to THEM forgetting something... & I will definitely be calling around to find the owner or to speak to someone about it. It's ridiculous that one time THEY forget something they won't let you order from them anymore. The lady who answers the phone has become highly rude & disrespectful as well hanging up. They are no longer my favorite. I cannot wait to speak to a manager ... that is terrible and not how you treat a long...
Read more25 years ago my mother was a daily customer of this restaurant. After she moved to Italy and she grows us with tails of her experience in NJ and the best meal that she got there. Last year, in March, after 25 years, my mother with me and my sister decided to visit these places where we were born. And with a huge surprise this place was the same of 25 year ago, but now is managed from the son which cook the same wonderful meal with the same passion of his father. I tried beef with broccoli and the fried rice and after the first bite a lot of feelings about the story of my mother passed inside me. This was one of the best experience I got in my life. For this reason I want to thank the owner of this little typical american chinese restaurant for the passion and the wonderful food. I hope this place will remain for ever the same...
