La Valentina — Restaurant in Long Branch

This place has the potential to be good but their service SUCKS. My friends and I (total of 6) came here today to eat. Very basic orders: chicken and beef tacos, burritos, quesadillas. Simple food and VERY simple drinks: coke, ginger Ale, Jarritos. We arrived at 5 pm and did not receive our drinks until 5:50. Then it took another 20 minutes for us to get our food. It’s one thing if someone came and said “hey this will take a while” or there was SOME form of communication—then it would not have been as bad. 10 minutes before our food came is when they decided to bring out steak nachos on the house for the wait..which at that point didn’t make up for much since it had already been so long. I really don’t understand why such simple orders took so long to make? It’s beyond me. Regardless of whether they’re doing deliveries (which was an excuse I overhead a waiter tell one table who was also waiting longer than us actually)— the customers IN YOUR FACILITY should be your number one priority. The icing on the cake was that the food wasn’t even that great. About a 5/10. We all agreed that it lacked flavor and it all just came out very basic for that long of a wait. I could tell that my waiter was flustered and annoyed and that she just felt helpless. Ultimately it’s not solely her fault on what’s happening.. but again the communication could have been 10x better. I really wanted to like this place, but the staff sucks big time. My family and I visited for lunch a couple days ago. Let me start by saying that we have been visiting for years and it had always been our go to for Mexican and great tacos de tripa. However, last Saturday's lunch was just a complete disappointment. The kids had the tenders and fries which were over salted to the point you could visibly the salt on the plate and you could tell the oil that was used to fry was burnt, as the food had bitter taste, needless to say the kids did not finish their meal. I had an Alambre which was served cold, the meat content was poor and the cheese was not spread evenly, it was placed only on one side of the dish instead of covering the meat portion like it should. We ordered tripa tacos, our favs, and they were disappointing as they had a very small amout of meat for almost 5 dollars a taco. I have ordered from this place twice and I got the same thing both times. Both times I order a chicken cutlet cemita and I specifically ask for no lettuce, with avocado, and chipotle peppers instead of jalapeños and to my surprise both times they got my order wrong, they gave me lettuce, barely any avocado, and jalapeños. The food was more veggies than anything else and the chicken and beans had no trace of any type of seasoning, everything was blend and I was very disappointed. I Oder the second time just to see if maybe it was a honest mistake but it didn’t matter. I spoke Spanish to them on both I occasions to avoid any misunderstandings. Needless to say I would not be coming back to this place, and if you are in Long Branch spend your money...
