I absolutely loved this Greek restaurant! I dined here for the first time on Sunday, and I plan on becoming a regular! They had an extensive menu plus a long list of specials written on a piece of paper which is another plus! There are only two appetizers that I didn’t see that I love to order at Greek restaurants. One was fried goat cheese with fig jam, and the other one is baked feta in phyllo. Please add them! They give you complimentary pita bread with dips here. I’m usually not a pita and dip person, but they turned me into a fan! The pita was very fresh and the dips were delicious especially the feta cheese one! For appetizer I had the fried Saganaki which was so good! For entree I had jumbo pan seared scallops with asparagus, and spinach over orzo in a pesto sauce. I told my server I love sauce, and he told the chef extra sauce for my dish. It was EXCELLENT! The portion was generous and the scallops had lots of Greek flavor! They were seasoned and cooked to perfection! The orzo in pesto sauce was fantastic! When I thought things couldn’t get any better they did! The waiter told me they have cheesecake baklava! Of course I ordered it! It was AMAZING! The cheesecake half tasted like a rich and creamy New York cheesecake. Who knew Greeks can make such a delicious cheesecake! The baklava part was one of the best I ever had! You can’t leave this restaurant without ordering the cheesecake baklava! I also took a dessert to go which was portokalopita. Portokalopita is a very moist cake dipped in orange syrup. It’s delicious! I recommend that one too! My server Niko was the sweetest ever! He took his time explaining the menu, and helping me decide what to order. They serve your Greek classics here plus a wide selection of meats and seafood here. I highly recommend dining at 12 Island Greek Taverna in Stirling! It’s definitely worth...
Read moreWe first had dinner here on a Thursday night. The restaurant was relatively empty. Our server Constantine was very friendly and accommodating to make sure there were no food allergy issues and everything was prepared the way we liked it.
Before any food arrived we enjoyed complimentary pita bread with cheese, olive and beet spreads.
We started with stuffed grape leaves and grilled calamari appetizers. Both were amazing, and large portions. Unlike other restaurants, where the calamari is served in small rings, here we got three huge grilled calamari. For entrees we got the grilled salmon and whole grilled red snapper. The fish was fresh, perfectly prepared and delicious. For desert we had baklava (nice and light) and vanilla ice cream (three large scoops).
This is not a fancy place, but is tastefully decorated. You get very high quality food in an informal atmosphere. The menu selection is large and the prices are reasonable.
We enjoyed ourselves so much, that we returned two days later on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but not too noisy for us to talk. Our server Chris was excellent, and everything we ordered was spaced just right even though it was a very busy evening. The Greek salad was huge, and the char grilled seafood platter came with a huge piece of octopus, two large grilled calamari, and four large grilled shrimp. Very delicious, and so much food that we took some of it home.
They have a nice tradition here where for someone's birthday the staff says "Opa" and breaks a plate.
This is a very family friendly restaurant. Lots of children there on Saturday night. There is a spacious parking lot, so even on Saturday night parking was not a problem.
If you enjoy Greek food, this place is a winner. We are planning to make this one of our regular...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time and we sure are glad we did.
The atmosphere is pleasant and not overwhelming with wonderful lighting to help relax a person and prepare them for a nice meal.
Service is speedy and restaurant staff are attentive. Not long after we were seated we were served with a platter of three tapenades (olive, roasted red pepper and feta, and beets) with pita.
Our server Chris was friendly, yet professional and was able to answer any questions we had about the menu.
My partner had the red snapper with toasted potatoes, tomatoes, olive, artichoke hearts, in a white wine butter sauce with broccoli rabe. I tasted her dish and it was delicious! The fish was cooked properly and not dry, and the white wine butter sauce was delectable.
I had the Lamb shank with orzo in n a tomato sauce. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices where one would still tastes the Lamb, and the meat fell right off the bone using a fork…no knife required. The food received a four star rating as the orzo was just okay and did not have a lot of flavor.
Throughout the meal the staff ensured our drink glasses were full and Chris made sure my partner had enough hot water for her tea.
After we were done with the main courses, the owner (Bill) , came to check on us and recommended two “off the menu” desserts; the cheesecake topped with baklava, and the Greek orange cake.
Both desserts are amazing! They have the right amount of flavor and not too sweet. The cheesecake topped with baklava is one of the top two, if not the top dessert I’ve ever had in my life.
We look forward to visiting again to sample their other offerings.
Well done 12...
