Ozo coffee is amazing. For those new to the area, they're an established specialty coffee institution in Boulder. I started going to the Arapahoe location — their first location — back in late 2009, after a friend told me I should try the House Special. The House Special is Ozo's traditional cappuccino (named this way to avoid confusing people used to Starbucks), and my friend was raving about it as he'd just come back from Australia, and it was the closest thing he could find in the area to the flat whites he'd enjoyed while over there.
In the years since, I've spent a lot of time at some of the different shops. But living in Longmont (and for a short time Gunbarrel), there was never an Ozo super close to my house. That all changed when they opened their Longmont location in 2016! The inside is beautiful, with both a main floor, a loft, and seating just outside the shop around a fire pit.
Since they've opened, I've been in this little shop w/the family many times, or on my own, when I've had work to do, or just needed a break. In that time, I've written several articles and a few books, made friends, worked through hard software design and programming problems, and much more. In addition to just offering great coffee consistently (and prepared by some of the best baristas in the area), it's been everything I've wanted from a neighborhood coffee shop, and it's all a very short drive, bike, or walk...
Read moreOZO For The Win I love this place. Not just this Longmont location, but all of OZO's outlets. I like their beans too, they are consistently good quality roasts, and fresh batches are readily available at all OZO shops and local Whole Foods markets. They are primarily what we brew at home. The Longmont location has a nice airy feel, contemporary without being cold. There's some seating downstairs and a bunch of small quieter tables upstairs. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me without compromising their efficiency. Can't beat that. They have a decent selection of coffee brewing gear for sale and seem ready to consult about it if you are so inclined. Brewed coffee is always good, tastes fresh to me. Espresso shots are also always good. A few times I've had baristas toss a a shot and try again, indicating to me that they care about the quality of their product, that they are paying attention and that they know that their clientele is doing the same. There's some food available too, but I can't really speak to the selection or quality. Bottom line is I love this place and I'll keep patronizing them as long as they keep...
Read moreI asked a barista here a while back which flavor options were non-dairy and she told me immediately that they all were. I got my regular drink and went on with my life thinking my stomach ache must have been something else I ate. I repeated this order at this shop multiple times without her ever saying anything. A few weeks later I went to a different Ozos and asked about vegan food options (very few sadly), but when I tried to order my usual coffee, I was warned by this barista that this option has dairy in it. In fact most of their flavors apparently have dairy in them.
I have a serious milk allergy that causes significant stomach pain, as well as a variety of other symptoms. I understand not knowing specific ingredients off the top of your head, but jfc it would really help a lot of people out if one just LOOKS at the allergy warnings. I’m really upset by this and don’t plan on returning to this location. If you have dietary restrictions for any reason, be careful here, since apparently the employees don’t really care if they put someone’s...
