I hate to write a bad review, especially about a much loved restaurant like Mi Casitas; however, I can’t let this one go. I would give it 1 star but I don’t want to come across as an a-hole toward a small business. It is not my intention at all to hurt said business. I ordered 2 potato, egg, bacon and cheese tacos and a bean and cheese with bacon. I grew up in San Antonio so I know what good Tex-max - especially the breakfast taco - is supposed to taste like. This did not come even remotely close. There was little to know seasoning at all in the potatoes, which had the texture of chunky mashed potatoes. I’m not just talking about salt and pepper, but Tex mex spices like cumin, chili powder, coriander, garlic, etc. they were very bland. Same went for the bean and cheese. Very, very bland. I did not get my first bite of bacon in the bean, cheese and bacon taco until I was 3/4 of the way through. That was my one and only bite of bacon. The coffee tasted old which wasn’t a huge deal. I simply asked if they would make a fresh pot. They said they would, but never did. Some might say it was just busy. Nope, there was exactly one other customer in the restaurant when I came in and they already had their food. From what I understand, the owner is from San Antonio as well, which truly surprised me given the blandness of the food. I’ve been in a few times and there hasn’t been much difference in the seasoning quality of the food. I keep hoping it will improve because it’s a nice little place, but no luck so far. Do...
Read moreWent in to eat breakfast and asked for a breakfast plate (Ala mexicana). I was told they could not make that, even though I have ordered it before. I explained it was scrambled eggs with jalapenos, onions, tomatoes, beans and potatoes on the side. Still nothing, although they make picoand have a grill to cook on. As a customer I felt she was making to settle for something I did not want. I ordered 2 charizo, eggs and cheese tacos. Not only was I disappointed with what I could not get, but the tacos were the worst I have ever had. The charizo was dry as dirt and the cheese tasted like processed cheese(that funky flour taste.) Needless to say we will find somewhere else to eat our mexican style breakfast. If I could leave a 0 rating I would. I never said I did cilontro they are lying to you. I shooed her because she made it a point to tell me I did not know what Ala mexicana was and on top of all this you never address the tacos I did get SUCKED. DRY AS DIRT. You dont know how to take care of customers and if alls you can do is place blame on the customer I would not go back here if it was the only place to eat...
Read moreThis was my 2nd meal over the last few days and upon this event I was disappointed.
I ordered the Chuck Norris Burrito which was impressive in size yet lacking in the 2 primary ingredients that I requested which was Carne Asada and Bacon.
Now mind you I had a hefty amount of the other ingredients such as rice beans avocado however I struggled to find any satisfactory amount of Carne Asada and Bacon which I did locate in only fragmentary amounts of bits & pieces.
I don't mind spending $15 to $20 for a meal but I'm not interested in my meal consisting primarily of beans & rice.
Perhaps these times that we're presently living in may require smaller portions but let's be mindful of the main ingredients such as meat portions that make for a memorial meal and promote great...
