My parents and my family ate here a few weeks ago, and we loved the food, we loved the atmosphere, and on the face of it we loved our service. However, when it came time to pay and the waitress handed us our bill my dad insisted on paying for all of us. He asked me to look at the itemized bill to make sure everything was on there, and to figure out how much tip he should leave. I normally don't look at the itemized receipt when a server gives it to me, I just hand them my card. However, when I looked at this receipt I noticed our server had already added an 18% gratuity. I thought that was odd because we only had 6 people in our party; not what I consider a large party. Also, she hadn't mentioned when she dropped off the check that gratuity had already been added. I pointed it out to my dad and let him know to not add any more tip because she'd already put it on there. When the waitress came back she still didn't mention the gratuity, and after she ran my dad's card she brought back the credit card receipt but NOT the original itemized bill. And on that receipt was a place to add a tip, like on any receipt at a restaurant, but no indication that we had already paid for the tip. My dad felt weird putting a zero on the tip line, and when he asked the waitress to make sure he wasn't stiffing her on a tip, THAT was when she readily admitted that yes, the gratuity was already on the original bill so that was no problem. We left and the more I thought about it the more I wondered how many times that server has done that and managed to get a double gratuity out of a customer. And was that just our waitress running that scam, or is that common practice at this location? Either way, I thought everyone should know they really need to inspect their receipts when they eat here. Like I said, the food's delicious, and I'll probably be back, but I will no longer hand the server my card without checking to see if they've already...

I'm going to dispense with all of the other stuff and go straight to the food. My wife and I and a friend arrived mid-afternoon in hopes of beating a Saturday crowd (we were wrong) standing room only. My wife ordered fried oysters and I ordered the fried jumbo shrimp and crab cakes both with baked potatoes. NOTHING was hot, NOTHING was freshly prepared and it was quite evident that our food had been mass produced and placed in warmers for hours, probably since or before the lunch hour. My wife's fried oysters that should be succulent inside the breading were disgustingly dry and had a leather like texture (I tried one). My shrimp was not any better, but I was starving and ate mine anyway. We all had to send our barely warm baked potatoes back and the ones we got back weren't much better. Now I know, when you have this kind of volume of patrons waiting to eat, that a certain amount of pre food preparation is needed so you can quickly serve the masses and shovel em out the door so you can sit the next customers down. However, Tia Juanita's of Longview, allowing mass produced food to sit for hours and dry out, and serving it to your customers is not acceptable. We've eaten at three other Tia Juanita's and have never had this problem. My wife did get her oysters comped by a defensive floor manager, who clearly didn't want to listen as to the quality of the food the kitchen was dishing out. As we tried to describe the quality of this food, he cut us off and just said, "do you want another order?" When my wife said she didn't he just said he'd take it off the ticket and walked off. I really hope we were the only table that had this experience as we've always loved Tia Juanita's, but I...

Tia Juanita's Fish Camp - Longview I want to review this new restaurant! New to Longview, but they evidently have a LARGER one in Henderson, this place was PACKED. There is so much to look at, and they were so nice during our entire meal. There were no sparky hostesses, and one gentleman even helped me find the business name to tag on Facebook. I was unable to check in to help them or review them, but word of mouth from an actual person typically does more anyway! The food portions were huge! I highly suggest sharing plates lol, we brought home practically full plates because we got stuffed on questo salsa, and chips. The jalapeño ranch salsa/dip OMG was so good. I got the fried fish tacos and it was perfection. The plate was beautiful, fish was crisp, perfect size, If they had options I didnt see it, I would have only ordered 2, 3 was too much, but I just ordered and didn't look at the menu. The charro beans could have had less fatty bits in it and could have had more flavor. It was a little bland compared to everything else. Now that IS a side, but sides should have flavor as well. The atmosphere was very lively and welcoming. Our waiter, Sev? Was very funny, friendly, helpful, and even asked who had never dined here before. He made sure to ask as we left to leaved a review. No stone left unturned in my opinion as Tia Juanitas Fish Camp expands to Longview.

This was my first visit here and I would probably come back. Some of the items on the menu are unique but some are so unique I would never even try them. The prices are a little high and the shrimp and grits were okay but they are a weird version of the traditional shrimp and grits for sure. I personally think they need more grits and less vegetables. The drinks look great and I may have to get one if I am not driving next time. I got water and it tastes great but I wish I had been asked for a refill because I would have taken one. The crawfish in the queso was SO FISHY. I wouldn’t eat it, the rest of the group said it was fishy but they would eat it anyway. You have to purchase the salsa for $3.99 which I am just not going to do. The seafood nachos were delicious (probably the best I have had) but I could tell the salads had been in the fridge a while because there was water collecting in the bottom of them and the cucumbers were changing. The staff was friendly and we got seated immediately and they even asked if we minded a live band, that is really thoughtful and appreciated. Our orders were taken quickly and the food did not take long. Like I said I would probably go back but I wouldn’t get the shrimp and grits!

Just WOW! Busy place and they still got us in and out in 45 minutes on a Friday lunch! Megan was TERRIFIC! It was our first time so we had a few questions and Megan knew her menu! And she was extremely attentive...we wanted for nothing. The food, gosh, what can I say that you haven't heard B4? Oh, I know....I not much into fish...it's usually kinda smelly and strong for me. I'm kinda shocked that I ordered the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain but the menu IS full of seafood 😉. This meal was utterly amazing! It had a sauce on it that complimented the fish To A T! And that pico..mango, pineapple concoction was the best fish enhancer ever. Hubs got the Shrimp Brochette. He liked it. He enjoyed the whole meal but I don't think he liked it as much as I liked mine. I can say that his meal's presentation was terrific. Hubs is the type of guy that orders the SAME thing every time and only goes to the SAME restaurants over and over. So, another testament to Tia Juanita's was that he actually said he'd like to try a few more things on the menu!! We will return! Just visited for the 2nd time. Another great experience. If Hunter recommends it, go with it! 💞
