We chose this restaurant after the one we normally go to was closed at the time we wanted to dine. The restaurant overall is well decorated and had a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating. At the time we went (mid afternoon)the restaurant was fairly empty; only a few people were dining there.
We made our selections from the menu and chatted a bit. The appetizer came first but the food arrived very quickly thereafter and was quite hot. Presentation was nice; the main dishes came in small squarish bowls and held a decent amount of food. Each main course came with rice but as in most Indian restaurants, the naan (bread) was extra.
Now, to the food. The appetizer was an Onion Bahjia (kind of like a pakora). It was okay, but was more "doughy" than crisp. Onion was clearly visible within. As far as main courses, I ordered the Kashmiri Chicken, and my companions ordered the Butter Chicken and Tadka Dal. What we noticed with all three dishes is they were true to form but kind of bland. I don't mean they weren't spicy because we didn't ask for spiciness, I mean they lacked the bold flavors that normally make Indian cuisine so delicious. I'd say a 5 out of 10 for flavor.
Perhaps the restaurant was experiencing some staffing issues like so many businesses these days, I initially only saw 2 people running things. Once we finished and asked for "to go" boxes for our food, I think it took maybe 10 minutes -give or take- for them to be brought out. Same with the check, it did not come quickly after the to go containers were provided. This be forgiven, I'm just writing a review about our particular experience.
Would we go back? Well, likely not. $17.95 for main dishes (with meat, dal was slightly cheaper) with rice and it was not particularly flavorful? Kind of a deal breaker in this reviewers opinion. Again, our experience, maybe...
Read moreI recently visited this Indian restaurant and was absolutely blown away by the food, flavors, and overall dining experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal. I tried three dishes—Samosa Chaat, Chicken Curry, and Goat Curry—and each one was nothing short of exceptional.
I started with the Samosa Chaat, and it was the perfect appetizer to kick things off. The samosas were crisp and golden, crumbled over a bed of chickpeas, chutneys, yogurt, onions, and spices. Every bite was a delightful explosion of flavors—sweet, tangy, spicy, and savory all at once. The textures were just as impressive, with the crunch of the samosa blending perfectly with the creamy and soft components of the chaat. It was vibrant, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying.
Next came the Chicken Curry, and it was easily one of the best I've had in a long time. The chicken was tender and juicy, simmered in a rich, aromatic gravy that had layers of deep, well-balanced spices. The sauce had just the right amount of heat and was perfect with the naan and rice. You could tell this curry was made with skill and care—comforting, bold, and bursting with flavor.
And finally, the Goat Curry—a true showstopper. The goat meat was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and infused with the deep spices of the curry. The gravy was thick, flavorful, and packed with complexity, offering a slight kick that lingered beautifully after each bite. It was hearty and indulgent in the best possible way.
The portions were generous, the presentation was appetizing, and the service was attentive and kind. Every dish felt authentic, thoughtfully prepared, and full of soul. Whether you're familiar with Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is an absolute gem. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be returning to explore more...
Read moreGateway To Bathroom Toilet: Avoid Gateway To India! We ate at the lunch buffet yesterday, and we both got upset stomachs and the bathroom RUNS! The food caused diarrhea and painful bowels. It was so bad that on our way home from Gateway To India we had to stop to use a public bathroom. Gave us SHARP GAS PAINS and diarrhea for several hours after. It ruined the rest of our day. Besides causing diarrhea the food was poor and bland. Every dish tasted very similar, not much flavor or spice. Even the rice was too watery. The only taste was overuse of cilantro, as if the cap broke on each dish. I have had tastier and spicier plain bread. It was as if Golden Corral started serving bland Indian food. Very bland and Americanized. Not authentic Indian flavors. I love flavorful and spicy. I have been eating Indian food from various places for 20+ years. I had ate at Gateway To India 10 years ago. The food was way better then. It has changed. I would never eat here again. Avoid and save your money. Even with the 20% discount for cash, I feel ripped -off and would like a full-refund for my time wasted and the painful stomach suffering and diarrhea. I asked for refund and got no response from...
