Review 1: I love the Ugly Mug. The first time I went there was for lunch. I had a tuna melt. I was not disappointed. There was a table of about 10 men next to us just chatting it up and having a ball. I noticed that each of them had a coffee mug with a name on it. Once they left I asked the waitress what the deal was. She explained that this group meets once a week for coffee together at the Ugly Mug. They each have their own personalized Ugly Mug coffee mug. How could you not love this place a little more.
Now I have been back a few times for breakfast (my fav meal). So far I have had the huevos rancheros, pancakes and a scramble. I really enjoyed all of the choices and the side of fruit was perfectly ripe and sweet. The chef didn't make my scramble with egg whites as requested but I did not mind. It tasted great anyhow.
The service has always been super friendly and the décor is eclectic and cute.
I tried to take my parents there this last Sunday. Unfortunately there was a 45 min wait (guess St Patty's day is hoping there). I have never had to wait before but breakfast does get busy.
Review 2: Let me breakout down here: 1: I'm a biscuits and gravy snob. Their BnG are awesome. The biscuits are moist and tasty. I've had a lot of dry and flowery ones in my day and these ones are yummy. The gravy as well is not too thick and has a great flavor. 2: I've never expected too much out of the side of fruit from restaurants but the Ugly Mug blows me away every time. It's so sweet, fresh and you always get a good variety. A+ in my book. 3: I had the veggie omelet today (Del Oro something ... Can't remember the name). It came out packed solid with veggies, feta on the top (light and not loaded w/ cheese which I hate) and was a big portion. Yummmmmm. My co-diner had this hot turkey sandwich that had Ortega chilis on it. He was overly impressed and devoured the whole thing. (Sorry I cannot remember the name).
4: last but hardly least.... I've never had a bad experience with the staff. They are always friendly, attentive and make you just feel welcome. I so appreciate that (especially these days).
This place is a must... As I've...
Read moreThis was my first and only time I will come here. Arrived at 10:30 and it was not very busy. I witnessed 3-4 tables be seated from 10 - 20 minutes after us all receive there food orders. 30 minutes after ordering and our waitress had not even bothered to come check on us, my husband got up and approached our waitress who was talking with her co-worker at the counter and she said it would be a few more minutes. Another 15 minutes and still no food. All other tables around us who had arrived far after us had eaten and left. We asked again what happened, she said it will be right up. Another 10 minutes and we discover she forgot to put our order in. Terrible service. A good waitress would have noticed something was wrong after 15 minutes. When we got our food, my Eggs Benedict were sitting on a soggy and cold muffin. We asked for a manger and we were told there was not...
Read moreI went here with my mother-in-law to treat her to what i thought would be a nice brunch , because it seemed like a cute little place to go. However, the overall essence of the restaurant was toxic. I saw a lady on crutches who may have seemed like some kind of manager???? she was very aggressive towards one of her employees. When we ordered our food, the service was alright , the young servers - let me repeat YOUNG servers, were getting our drinks to us when someone of age probably should have been. The food was really delicious but when i looked up and saw a roach scurrying across the wall and i immediately lost my appetite.. which was really just gross . Maybe the lady on the crutches was in a bad mood that day, but in the end, i’m never going to come back...
