This has been the second time I've been to this place. Both times it was a bit of a coincidence/stumbled upon it. For a party of four during Happy Hour, we got super lucky (because we got there early) and got 4 spots at the bar. This place gets busy, quick!
Drinks: My friend recommended the Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita. Let's just say, all four of us had three each over the course of our stay. The flavors were very well balanced & complimenting of each other.
Food: We ordered a few items to share. The Mac'n'Cheese is a bowl of creamy, cheesy goodness with a lil kick of the jalapeño. On the alternating-by-day Happy Hour menu it's listed as $6, and I find that to be an incredible deal. General Tso Cauliflower is another must-try at $5 on regular HH menu. A crunchy crispy exterior with just the right amount of kick.
Ambiance: It's cute. It gets pretty busy during happy hour, but it's a cozy, lively spot to have a drink at. The bar tenders are great to chat with, so if you can get there early, it's totally worth it. Besides a good spot at the bar, you'll get recommendations on food and drinks!
For larger parties I'd recommend calling ahead. Makes life easier...
Read moreThis creative bar offers an Asian fusion menu that blends traditional Chinese dishes with American Chinese favorites. The food strikes a balance between authenticity and accessibility, leaning slightly toward the American palate. Dishes like the green scallion pancake and walnut shrimp represent this mix well. My personal favorite is the Chinese BBQ pork, made with pork shank — perfectly crispy on the outside and tender within. The XO fatty noodles are another standout, especially as a satisfying late-night pairing with drinks.
The cocktail program is what originally drew me here. The menu is inspired by different neighborhoods across Los Angeles, each reflected in its flavor profile. For instance, Koreatown features a soju base, while Little Tokyo incorporates Japanese gin and sakura vermouth. Techniques are inventive as well — one cocktail is even aged in karas for a month, allowing the flavors to mellow and blend together seamlessly.
Overall, this is a bar that combines creativity, cultural references, and technical precision, making it a memorable spot for both...
Read moreWe went on a Saturday fall night around 8pm. Free street parking after 8! The post office across the street had parking too but it’s $5/hr. We ordered the rosemary negroni and the strawberry Negroni since they were limited edition. They were both smooth and well balanced. You could definitely taste the spirit in the rosemary but it wasn’t abrasive. The strawberry one that came out of the fountain tasted like straight up juice. The description said it had champagne in it too but it wasn’t bubbly at all. They were served with the big cube of ice and a grapefruit rind for the strawberry one and. Rosemary sprig for the other. I’d try diff cocktail next time since I have to haha. We then ordered the veggie noodles. They were thinly rolled rice noodles that resembled rice cakes. That was a fun take on it. Less messy for dates. The greens served with them were not bitter at all. We asked for some chili oil and one of the servers brought it to us. I’d recommend for sure. Bad is open seating if you find a stool. The restaurant seemed to only take...
