A truly excellent dining experience! The owner’s sister explained so much to us about the food they offer that the experience was truly wonderful! We had mango chicken, tea leaf salad, beef curry, paratha bread, garlic noodles and a unique dessert. The mango chicken is similar to orange chicken but it actually has big chunks of mango! It was really good. The tea leaf salad is something I’ve never had before. It was good. It includes crunchy things that complement the salad well. The beef curry is pretty good too and not like Thai curry. The garlic noodles were very tasty and the dessert was really good too! The dessert was a bunch of jello type thingies of different colors with some bread pieces and sticky rice in a coconut sauce. We drank Burmese iced tea as well which is similar to Thai iced tea but tastes more like tea than the Thai version and is far less sweet. Everything here had subtle flavor. The dessert wasn’t overly sweet. If you like food that isn’t overly condimented you’ll love Burmese food. It’s not much like Thai food or Cambodian food. There are some Thai dishes here though. They have a parking lot that is rarely without a spot to park and there’s an underground parking structure as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy the finer...
Read moreI ordered the coconut noodle soup and asked if he could make it vegan but he brought it out with an egg in it :/ So I told him and so he went and removed the egg and brought it back. My noodles were a little mushy and must've been overcooked. Overall the dish tasted okay but I thought it was a little under seasoned, and the portions were a little too small. I was still hungry when I got home.
Our dishes didn't come out at the same time so we were waiting a bit for everyone's dish to come while our food was getting cold. Keep in mind we were the only group there.
All that being said I would give it another shot because there were some interesting items on the menu and my friends seemed to like their dishes (but agreed the portions could be a...
Read moreI was really excited when I found this Burmese restaurant, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to my hopes. I saw a cookbook for Burma Superstar displayed prominently near the entrance and assumed that the restaurant might have something to do with Burma Superstar in Oakland (which I love).
We ordered the tea leaf salad, rainbow salad, chicken curry, and a noodle dish. Everything just tasted the same—bland, too salty, and meh texture. The dried chili condiment was the only tasty thing we had.
This is LA, so it was disappointing given how many amazing restaurants there are and the deceivingly high ratings. Maybe it’s well rated because they offered a free dessert for a Google reviews.
Other than being affordable, it was a...
