A cool, hip aperitivo bar serving small Italian bites; a bustling place to hang out with a drink or two in hand!
PARKING: Street parking on side streets available, not too much trouble to find a spot and walking a block over.
VIBE: Dim lighting, Dark wood paneling, plush red booth seating, bar seating surrounding the central bar (wall behind filled with gorgeous spirits), outdoor seating too. Likely a row or two people deep if you're here on a busy evening.
GETTING SITUATED / ORDERING: Open seating here! You seat yourself, so snag seats, booths, bar stools as they open up. You order at the bar for everything including drinks and food; open up your tab for a few rounds! There are small menus around the place but we were good with the website's menu without having to look for a physical copy.
DRINKS: The APERITIVO/COCKTAILS menu is the forte here! Many aperitifs to choose from, with the selection of amaro being a standout. Wines, beers, non-alcoholic options available.
We had the: SOUR CHERRY SPRITZ (refreshing with a rich dark maraschino cherry at the bottom with cherry amaro), VERMOUTH with soda (served with lemon peel), BOBBY SPECIAL (the best one: a mug of Peroni, plus a Ferrari shot; drank them separately, drank them together, lovely floral / herbal aroma from the shot, a perfect pairing with the cool Peroni), and the FROZEN NEGRONI (rich and served with maraschino cherry).
All well balanced and not too sweet which we loved.
FOOD: The options were in tapas like portions which encouraged us to try a bunch! All were great and we ordered quite the range for two: PANCETTA-WRAPPED DATES & POTATOES (comes in 5 bites, rich, salty and sweet), ARANCINO SALSICCIA E FUNGHI (one big arancino with beautiful black risotto inside and the lightest, crispest outside!), SUPPLI (this is my vote for must order here - cheesy, lightly crisp outside, parmesan love), FRIED POLENTA W DIPPING SAUCE (runner up best item for me and comes with two dipping sauces: a white cheesy one and a red sauce), MEATBALLS IN SUGO (comes with chewy "crackers" to sop up the sauce, small, dense and rich), and EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA (husband's vote for runner up best item; complex flavors, delicious).
SERVICE: all orders go through the bar, so know what you want when you approach! It was easy to get the bartenders' attention, and I appreciated that when it was loud they double checked they got your order right before entering it all in. If you ordered drinks they likely will make it on the spot so hang around a bit to grab them off the bar! Otherwise food orders award you a small table number for you to bring back to your seat. Empty glasses/plates were whisked away efficiently.
SUMMARY: a hip neighborhood bar with unique drinks and excellent food. Wonderful hangout spot and will recommend friends to come visit; looking forward to trying all the...
Read moreAbsolutely love the atmosphere at The Capri Club. It feels like you've stepped back in time into the perfect little Italian aperitivo bar. The retro decor with the red booths and wood paneling is spot on, creating a vibe that's both effortlessly cool and super inviting.
The drinks are the real star here. You HAVE to try the frozen Negroni - it's a game-changer and lives up to all the hype. All the cocktails we tried were fantastic, perfectly balanced and showed real craftsmanship.
What really made our visit special was the incredible team. A huge shoutout to Jose, Caitlin, and everyone else working – they were all so welcoming and made sure we had a great experience.
Just a heads up – the place has a real buzz and gets packed, especially on weekends. They don't take reservations, so it's best to get there a bit early to snag a table either inside or on their patio. The energy is electric, though!
Overall, Capri Club is a top-notch spot for a date night or catching up with a friend. Great drinks, amazing staff, and an unbeatable atmosphere. Will...
Read moreEDIT: I feel it’s necessary to disclose I feel the need to update my review every few months because I come here so often.
This place is always busy, even on weeknights. It gets PACKED on weekends. That’s a testament to the beverages and service. Drinks menu rotates so there’s always something new and interesting to try. You can also always get a classic cocktail or frozen special, aside from their new craft offerings. A good selection of beer and wine are also served here. There is a regular food menu with larger portions from opening until about 9 or 10 pm when they switch to their late-night menu which consists of small plates to pick at. Theres plenty of heat lamps outside for when it’s cold so you can still sit comfortably during the winter. My favorite things to order for food are the Little Gem Caesar (Under a blanket of parm- best I’ve found in LA so far!), meatballs, tuna stuffed pepper, and tiramisu. Fernet lovers and Argentinians rejoice! They’ve got like ten...
