First off, the area of Highland Park the motel is located in is very nice with trendy restaurants, coffee shops, etc. But the motel itself is something straight out of a horror movie.
When we first walked into our room I immediately thought of the first “Saw” film because the room looked that effed up. Exposed pipes with a hasty, sloppy paint job. Water damage throughout and a damaged window. The room was cavernous and unwelcoming and the first thing I wondered when we walked in was, “I wonder how many people died in this room?” The bathroom tub was filthy, the bed spread had cigarette burn marks, crusty sheets, and (of course) the TV didn’t work. We had booked to stay for two nights as we were attending events in the area and the drive back home usually takes an hour or more (good old LA traffic). After the first event we dreaded going back to the hotel but we did stay overnight. The next day we left early for the next event and by the time that one was over with, we both decided that we couldn’t spend another night there. At 11:30 PM we rushed to pack up all of our stuff and hightailed it out. We weren’t the only ones as we saw several other people checking out asap as well with similar looks of terror on their faces. The hour drive back home wasn’t bad and it’s something we continue to talk about to this day. The creepy Highland Park Motel and what dark secrets lay hidden behind its water stained,...
Read moreCan't figure out why google will not post my review but I'll sedit it down and see what happens. this place is Unbelievably Awful. So bad I had to call Expedia and get a new hotel even though this place still insisted on charging me for my stay. The staff are horrendous. I arrived at 2:30 pm and informed the woman on reception I had a reservation. She immediately snapped that check in was not until 3:30 (then said 4 pm) Then she told me I had to leave a CASH deposit which means i have to go to the bank and get money - then get change somewhere. Okay. I am dealing so far - but just barely. Then I get to my "room" it was the filthiest place I have ever been to in my life. It's very expensive and so I expect something decent - or at least clean. It was FILTHY. I called expedia and told them they had to got me out of there. The called the hotel who called them and was told "we do not have a cleanliness problem here" - I get that the owners are from India - and they have different standards of what is clean - but see the attached photos. I had also asked for a working bathtub. I got one with no stopper - when I asked them for a stopped - they laughed at me said - "we don't have those." it was over 80 in the room and the ac unit did not work either. overall - the attitude was terrible the hotel filthy filthy filthy and the people who own it...
Read moreDO NOT USE THIS PLACE! THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH ROCHES. First, we had to pay a $10 deposit to get the TV Remote. I found that a bit sketchy at first. This location has a “rent-a-guard” sitting in the small lobby just reading a book. Room #209 we were given was large but only had a large table, 2 vinal covered chairs a queen size bed, 2 end tables and a TV. The rest of the room was void of any furniture. Ther was holes in the walls and ceiling. There were cigarette burns on the floor, burnt into the Formica. No lamps, making it hard to see at night. There was no microwave in the room, and the refrigerator was small. Which I did not even open, because I was afraid too. The window, when opened, had no screen. The amenities outside the room consisting of a broken soda machine and two microwaves that were old and dirty. The area right out of the room was worn and dated to include the security gate to the parking lot which the lock was broken. ! I can understand one rough, this is California, but after 10 (8 in the bath and 2 under the bed) – we checked out and risked our safety driving 400 miles to home in the middle...
