Muddy Paw Coffee & Park Eagle Rock — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We visited this café just now based on a recommendation from friends, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the experience.

From the start, the man at the front—an anxious-looking Caucasian gentleman—seemed impatient and fidgety while taking our order. His attitude wasn’t very welcoming, but we chose to overlook it, hoping to enjoy the food and drinks.

We ordered a variety of empanadas, which had the flavors stamped on top. Most of them were good—except the Nutella one. My daughter picked that one, and we expected it to be fresh and tasty. However, when she took a bite, she said it tasted off. I tried it myself and agreed—it had a grainy, stale texture and an unpleasant, oily flavor. It definitely did not taste fresh.

We politely brought it back and asked if we could exchange it for another flavor. At the time, the same man was looking at his phone while we spoke to him. He responded with a poor attitude and said no. We even asked if he could contact someone else or find a solution, and made it clear we weren’t asking for a refund—just an exchange. Still, he refused.

At that point, we just left the empanada on the counter and decided to leave. As we were walking out with our two young children, he shouted a curse word at us. This behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, especially in front of minors. My drink was supposed to have fruits as the flyer shows on the shelf there but, I put a picture of what I got. He made me the wrong drink. Which isn’t what was in the picture. Spent almost $50 on 3 drinks, a cookie, and 3 empanadas here; not worth it to come…

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Eagle Rock Cafe, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This charming spot serves Muddy Paw Coffee, which is renowned for its commitment to animal welfare and supporting local communities. I tried the oat milk flat white, and it was absolutely divine – creamy and perfectly balanced. Alongside my coffee, I enjoyed a slice of their vegan, gluten-free coffee cake, which was moist, flavorful, and an absolute treat. Their extensive vegan menu offers a variety of delicious options, making it a fantastic spot for anyone with dietary preferences or restrictions.

One of the standout features of Eagle Rock Cafe is its pet-friendly environment. They have a private dog park where your pets can play while you relax and enjoy your coffee. I had high expectations from Muddy Paw Coffee in Eagle Rock based on the glowing reviews and TikToks, but my experience was incredibly DISAPPOINTING.

It started with a phone call before my visit. The woman who answered was extremely rude, short, and unprofessional. When I asked if they were busy, her response was a curt, "Maybe", followed by "Oh, wait", in the most unprofessional tone. Despite this first impression, I still decided to visit, thinking maybe it was just a bad moment.

Unfortunately, things didn't improve in person. I entered the shop and wasn't greeted at all-- no acknowledgment, nothing. I even attempted to be friendly, but she remained rude, short and disinterested in providing any kind of decent service. I asked what she might recommend considering it was my first time there to which she replied with an annoyed wave at the wall that just had a list of coffee options...
