I used to live in the neighborhood surrounding Jinky's, and loved to go there for breakfast. frequently. I have since moved further away and haven't had the opportunity to eat there in quite a while. This morning I was back in the neighborhood and couldn't wait to go to Jinky's. I entered the restaurant was told to sit anywhere I like. Cool. I selected a small table and ordered a big breakfast. I happily worked on the Sunday crossword puzzle as I ate. I felt like I was in sync with a sign they had on the wall, which said something like, "Happiness is a leisurely breakfast". I was suddenly and rudely shaken from my happy state when a man approached my table and asked me to either leave or sit at the counter. He wanted to use my table to add to another table to accommodate a large party. I felt humiliated and insulted. This is the first time in my life that I have ever been asked to vacate a table in a restaurant so it could be given to someone else. I don't know if the restaurant staff felt they could do this because I am a woman and I was sitting by myself. In any event, the whole thing felt horrible to me and I will not be going to Jinky's again. I should add that I am an easy-going person who is not easily...
Read moreIâve frequented Jinkyâs for over 20 years. Sometimes I was there twice a week because of the amazing menu. Everything you want ⌠until nowâŚJinkyâs was purchased by a new owner about 1 year ago and the food and service has gone downhill since then. Many of my favorites are no longer on the menu. Had the chili today and it was bland and flavorless. It used to be amazing and the different types of chili they offered, but no longer. The prices went up well over 10 percent for each dish I used to Order since this new owner took over. It is not the cool neighborhood restaurant that was like Cheers where everyone knows your name. I miss the personal touches. I miss the friendly wait staff. I will go back from time to time, but it makes me sad that this great restaurant is now mediocre at best. If the new owner is reading this, you are made a huge mistake by changing so much. You are following the footsteps of the amazing pizza place that was next door- it was bought, corners were cut, and now it no longer exists. I realize that people need to retire, but these new business owners truly need to take a page from the old book- if it isnât broken,...
Read moreVery busy for Saturday breakfast. Took a long time to order and to get the food. The tater tots were cold, we asked for replacements they were also cold. We asked for another replacement and we could tell that those were simply re-fried and served. My scramble was hotter on top and cooler underneath, I think it sat under the heat lamps. The food was not made with very much care., This place is more like cafeteria dining rather than what it brands itself to be. The onions on the sandwich we ordered were cut too thick to be edible. The top of the croissant was burned. The portions were not generous. We ordered pancakes and by the time we finished our breakfast the pancakes had not arrived, we waited some more and finally cancelled our pancake order. The prices are rather high and the management adds 3.95% to every bill due to "new" operating expenses. This was an expensive and not terribly good meal. We have been coming here for years, the prices have been going up and the food quality has been going down. Nat's is further away, but less pretentious, much tastier and more affordable. We will...
