El Cabo Pepe's (Pepe's Red Tacos) — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Got lucky there was no line when I went in the afternoon (the truck was in Pasadena) Ordered the sample plate which comes with 4 tacos and a bunch of sides; 2 hot sauces (one has a lime flavor), beef broth dip, onions/cilantro, radish slices & limes. I recommend eating it as soon as you get it so it doesn't get cold/soggy. It was so good, I ate it alllllll. Beef and shells had good flavor. I wish the shells were a little more crunchy. I added ALL the sides on top and dipped in the beef broth, yum. The staff was friendly and even let me practice trying to order in Spanish. There is nothing really special about the birria. It’s really just decent. I tried the quesi tacos and they were decent up until I added a whole lot of sauce, lemon, onions, and consomé. I’m also not a fan of the bone marrow taco—it looked so delicious in the pictures only to be let down when I tried it. The bone marrow taco is also super expensive for something that wasn’t all that. On a positive note, the consomé was good and became really tasty when I put lemon, onion, and hot sauce—which in turn made the tacos taste better.

Would I comeback? Ehh maybe if I was really really hungry, but I would rather go to a different...

Update December 2020: Went back and turns out they're okay...Not the best customer service but the food is alright. The birria consome had a very strong clove flavor which was a little overwhelming and left a bad aftertaste. Soda prices are not listed and they round up the total to the greatest number so you might want to check your receipt and do your own math. They get to keep the 3 stars.
