El Valle Oaxaqueno — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We had gone to El Valle Oxaqueño to order a dory cake they had the display in the book and mentioned they could do it. When my husband goes to pick up the cake on April 2 2022 he gets this basically green cake and speak to the baker why is a fish on grass it was supposed to be a lighter shade of blue he explains the cake not going to look exactly like the picture because they don’t have all the colors. My response was well did u bother calling the customer and asking hey we can’t make the colors to your expectations would u mind if we put green or secondly hey there’s no light blue can we just make it all blue. But no they assumed and made it their way they charged $115 dollars for this cake it was 3 leches right the baker told us well the colors don’t matter it’s the flavor of the cake that will have people happy. Now getting back to his saying once it came down to pass the cake around to my guest they disliked it it was so dry I even felt like a piece of bread was going to get stuck on my throat all the guest left the cake of course if a cake is not tasty people will nibble on it and leave it I ended up throwing half that cake away and was so mad and upset not only for their service but for the cake texture. Worst Customer Service. I’m a very understanding person and I don’t like leaving these types of reviews but this was absolutely ridiculous. I walked in ordered my food and even bought some bread and looked around after purchasing all these items that were not cheap I went to go sit in my car while checking if my food was constantly ready every 15 mins 2 hours later my food was not yet done I finally received my order and was so excited to eat because I drove 45 minutes out to get this food and I open the box and it was the wrong order I went inside and let them know and they told me that it would be another two hours before I would get my food and we requested a refund and they did not give it to us they only said that we would have to wait for the correct order we decided to leave and go someplace else because on top of us getting the wrong order we did not receive a refund and it was a complete joke. I really do enjoy this place because it has authentic Oaxacan food but this was completely unacceptable and I will not be returning. Employees attitude...

This is the second time I have had a bad experience when coming to purchase Mexican bread and hot chocolate. I have not had the pleasure of dining there. I am of Oaxacan decent and I found this location close to my house. Their Mexican bread and pastries are great. I have had disappointments with their champurado which was water down, Their Oaxacan hot chocolate with milk had a spoiled taste. And, their Oaxacan hot chocolate with water did not taste like hot chocolate at all. I purchased the Oaxacan hot chocolate yesterday, Sunday morning. I let the cup of hot chocolate cool down before placing it inside the refrigerator. Pull it out from the refrigerator after work to find it with small white balls and the bottom of the cup looked like slush. I have been hesitant to relay my experiences with Arturo, the owner.
