Happy Diner #2 — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Drove past here many times unaware of this hidden gem. I am extremely satisfied with my experience today (1/6/2024 11am) the food and service was amazing! It was definitely loud , fast paced, and packed in there so if you’re not into that then this isn’t the place for you.

I personally had a great time. I would like to add that although it was very busy we never felt rushed while eating and the staff was very attentive

We had a banana nut waffle Breakfast sandwich Large Order of fries 2 fried peppers/ jalapeño 2 coffees For just around $37

All items were brought to our table hot af and definitely tasted freshly made.

The waffle was delicious, not overly sweet, banana/nut balance was perfect it does already come with some type of syrup so keep that in mind when ordering.

Fries were slightly crispy on the outside but super soft and mushy on the inside, they did not taste of old oil or any other flavor besides yummy fries / seasoning. Plus they keep their ketchup refrigerated which absolutely added to the pleasant tasting experience because the fries were piping hot ! We also requested ranch which wasn’t an additional charge.

The breakfast sandwich had the perfect balance of everything it was not overly seasoned or salted and the tomato was perfect.

Coffee was amazing I got 2 refills and one to go 😅 we were asked plenty of times if we wanted a refill never had to waive them down for one.

So let me just preface, I have gone here for years with my family and it is literally one of my happy places. I have always had great experiences here, the food is yummy and it is just a nice place to be. The last time my friend and I went, we had a server named Nancy who I hadn't met before, but she is my new favorite server. We sat at a table next to a man who appeared to have some very specific requests and he repeated himself several times, meaning 6 or 7 times, and I wondered how she would react. To my delight, she reacted each time as if it was the first time he had asked. Surprisingly, she did not get irritated, just took it in stride. She came to our table next and had the same happy smile and demeanor. I have a food allergy so I am also very specific about my meal, and she made a note and followed up to make sure that I was safe. We came by for a sit-down breakfast today and were fed and served quickly. We had the two-egg combo with Portuguese sausage, and the chicken Happy Diner Scrambler.

The two-egg combo was definitely skimpy on the egg and sausage. It was only a few slices of sausage and did not seem to be two "extra-large" eggs. However, the fruit was fresh and ripe.

The Scrambler was pretty good, but there were bits of bone in the chicken. The avocado was a bit brown but still decent.

We were a bit disappointed to see how the food was prepared. The kitchen appears to make large batches of bacon, sausage, eggs, and other food ahead of time, and just reheats thems on the griddle. At a diner you expect simple food, cooked to order. The diner missed the mark on this aspect, and we probably will opt for another establishment. The food, while not outrageous, was still expensive for what we got. We could have gotten the same quality at a larger quantity and smaller price at a chain...
