Well I will say this. The location is great. The views are great. The price is great. The idea is great. What is not great is most of the regulars act as if they are better then and some home own the pool. They tend to complain to just about everything. God for bid a kid be a kid and splash. Or need some tips from fellow swimmers. Also some of the guards are extremely rude. The swim lessons the guards are not actually in the water with the children which to me seem extremely backwards and totally not helpful how are u going to explain a swimming technique outside of the water to a large group of children? Good luck! You must teach by example hard to show someone how to swim if you aren’t actually in the water. When my sons swim lessons are over I will only come back for free swim. After today’s experience I think the ymca is actually better. There is two guard that are helpful. The lady at the front desk is always polite but honestly the negative vibes from the few grouchy people and guards really make this place not enjoyable. Edited. So after this first visit we have gone back for several more classes. It has been a far better experience. The guards we have now are amazing the head lady there Lisa is her name is so awesome. I really enjoy this pool now. My son is now on jr guards and polo and it brings me so much joy to see how much he is learning. For the price the view and alll those you run into here it’s well worth it. I highly recommend checking it out. Even if u have a bad first experience come back I promise it’s worth it.

It was fun to come here for swimming on a cold day in January 2023. The water was heated. It was not busy at all for swimming laps. Kudos to the nice lady in the women’s changing room. She was very kind in storing our belongings. The shower and changing room were clean enough. Entry tickets are 4 dollars for adults and dollar one for seniors It’s a great place to watch the fireworks on 4th of July.

Absolutely loved it!!! Not too much chlorine...our son didn't complain about his eyes burning. Water was ridiculously clean and the lifeguard was well communicable and advisable to giving tips and pointers to help our son improve his son. Definitely returning.

This five-star is for Jesse Owens park due to them carrying about their community and their wellness they have been strong and supportive of living better quality of life and wellness of their Community check out YouTube and see what I'm talking about. This community where I live In San Pedro and have been here for 13 years going on 14. Yes I need the services and I have had to travel across town to get them. I have taken water aerobics at banning high school as well for one dollar and I called Hey Rookie Pool to inform them and now banning high school has lied and said they was not charging a dollar for disabled and seniors and yes the call was made Jessica made a statement that maybe they were trying to get more people to attend the water aerobics and that's why the dollar was charged next I called and spoke to Mr. Gonzalez he states he's been there for two years and it seem like he really didn't care to be honest and tell the truth about disabling seniors being charged a dollar for water aerobics. I believe this was due to a statement being made about if other people change their prices it will cause a problem for other water aerobics facilities. This is a park and recreation please do the right thing for seniors and individuals with disabilities. This is a health and wellness issue. What are we supposed to do sit up in the house and just die away or waste away when we have this facility that can help us live a better quality of life. please understand the need you also have elderly and people with this abilities taking pain medicine which can cause life-threatening things to occur such as addiction and...

The staff are horrible & discriminate my family has worked for the city of LA for over 20 years, in Recs & Parks & for LAWA, I brought my niece today with not a bathing suit because she is shy so she had not street clothes either but Nike pros that I’ve seen people wear there and they didn’t let her in, maybe they were having a bad day or idk what the reason was on why they didn’t let her in & as we were leaving we look down to the pool and a person of a different skin color of ours had the SAME shirt she had.

My comment means nothing obviously, but the “ manager “ and the staff had such a stank attitude I never seen them before they prior people there at the front desk were always nice, again idk if it was race discrimination or just they were having a bad day, But i do hope they let other people in that want to go for a swim for their mental health & they let them. My neice has been having a bad week due to her mental health, and luckily we found another pool that did let her in & they even said the people at the Hey Rookie pool were being mean because what she was wearing was acceptable and DOES not mess up any filters

I just hope in the future, situations like this can be handled with more kindness. We all have off days, but a little grace goes a long way especially...
