HomeState — Restaurant in Los Angeles

The GM, Daniel, is really truly fantastic!! I've been here a few times (always takeout) and they are always kind, though my prior trips have been uneventful (in a good way). Today, something went wrong and my order was mixed up, and Daniel went above beyond to make it right!!

By the time I'd gotten home, realized the mixup and called, it was too late for me to get back over there before they closed, so I'd just accepted my fate to go to bed hungry. But no!! Daniel made sure my correct order got to me and could not have been kinder in the process.

Perfection is impossible for us all, so how a business handles mistakes is just as important as how they operate when everything is going well, if not more so! This place has been my staple for six years or more. I used to go to the Los Feliz location, but because Atwater is now closer to my house and I noticed the portion sizes were going down, I moved over to Atwater. The portion sizes returned, and that feeling like you always felt like someone you knew was making the tacos came back. Sadly, however the portion sizes have gone down dramatically in Atwater in the last few weeks. The tacos are maybe a half of the size of what they used to be. Have never been disappointed when visiting HomeState. I like that they have a wide variety of tacos available so I can change up my order depending what I may be hungry for. This includes the special or limited edition tacos that are often added to the rotation. Am particularly a fan of the brisket and when really hungry will tackle some migas for breakfast.
