I got food from Tacos Villa Corona this morning. This is how my interaction went: Me: Can I have a carne asada burrito to go without any rice or beans, please. Response: carne asada burrito comes with either potatoes or beans Me: Can I have it without potatoes or beans. Response: We can't do that. It's our policy. Me: Why not? I understand most places will charge extra for all-meat burrito, which is fine. You can charge me extra for it (I wanted to point out that I wasn't expecting it without any extra charge and that I was happy to pay extra for it). Response: I don't have to explain our policy to you. You can go to those places. (It was a shocker to hear that unwarranted rudeness. I would've completely understood if the chef was so proud of the recipe that they wanted the customers to have it exactly the way they've created it, without any modifications - and they guy could've explained it like that. Instead, he chose to respond the way he did. At that point, I should've walked away - but I didn't) Me: Okay, give me the one with steak and potatoes. Response: With red sauce or green sauce? Me: Which one is milder? Response: Green. Me: Then green sauce, please. Upon getting the bag of my food a couple of minutes later: Me: Can I have some sauce on the side, please. Response: Sauce is already in it. Me: May I have some extra, please? Response: (Guy attempts to hand me 2 small containers of red sauce) Me: Not red, but the green sauce, please. Response: We only have red sauce. (I didn't take the red sauce and walked away, kinda confused, that when he was taking my order, he asked me whether I wanted a green sauce or the red - and now, when I asked for extra green sauce, he tells me that he doesn't have any. But at that point, I didn't want to engage in any more conversation; so, l walked away from the window) I must admit, that in a weird way, I was kinda excited to try the food - because I was thinking that with that kind of attitude, the food must he really good or else they wouldn't be able to afford that attitude.
Sadly, food completely missed the mark. They use huge jumbo sizes tortilla to wrap very little ingredients. Which explained why they were not willing to remove potatoes- coz without potatoes, there would not he much left in the burrito. Talking of potatoes (and I love potatoes), these were completely bland, unseasoned, plain boiled potatoes - not even grilled or baked - but just boiled and unseasoned potatoes. If they mist use potatoes as filler, at least season them, so they are palatable.
Secondly, there was no sauce in the burrito. The green sauce that he had mentioned while taking my order was not in the burrito. So, I guess they must be out of the green sauce and decided to make the burrito without any sauce.
One good thing that I observed was the good quality of the meat. There were no hunks of unchewable meat or inedible fat, which is commonly found in most inexpensive burritos these days.
My suggestions to this business: a) I have not seen a $6 burrito anywhere in LA. Even the taco trucks charge twice as much for a burrito. So, for the price, I can understand that their burritos are small - but please use the corresponding small size tortilla to wrap up and not those huge tortillas where the first few bites are nothing but the tortilla, b) if customer asks for a meat-only option, charge them extra and give them what they want, c) be careful and don't miss ingredients (without that sauce, the burrito was very unappetizing), and d) tone down the attitude. Remember that you are in a customer...

Funny this place has the word 'taco' in its name, but I've never tried one . . .
But I HAVE had several burritos from this place: Papas burrito, Steak and beans, Chorizo, and others, and EVERY SINGLE ONE is off the charts. Also have tried the spinach quesadilla, which was really good (saying alot from a guy who considers that it takes meat to make a meal.) Try their salsa, too. I go through two little tubs/burrito.
This place excels at breakfast burritos especially, which are prepared anytime. I stopped in last week, and they had not quite opened yet. But Cisco called out that he had a canceled order (who knew you could call ahead?) It was a 'Papas' burrito: potatoes with egg and cheese, and their signature pico. It was still warm, so I did partake. Two bites in, and I was asking myself why I let so much time pass between my visits to this place. A few more bites and I wondered why I bother exploring new eateries. This is the proverbial place you come back to.
Other notes: they have a pretty good vegetarian menu (it's Atwater Village, duh.) Bring change for the metered street parking. Be prepared to wait 15 minutes or so if you go during peak lunch hour. It's worth the wait.
Don't go here thinking there will be a place to sit down: there most likely will not be. The inside of your car is bigger than this place. Come here because they put out a consistently good burrito. Come by a few times and their family will start treating you like one...
Read moreI really enjoyed this place and went several times a week. Last week I pulled a long hair out of my mouth that was in a burrito. I understand that mistakes like these happen but the way it was handled when I informed them was completely unprofessional and offensive. First, one of the workers said, “well if that’s the case we don’t want to serve you.” Then the owner laughed and jokingly said, “we don’t serve hairs.” For some reason they did that week. As if that all wasn’t bad enough I purchased another burrito (and was charged without any sort of apology) then they claimed that people have been lying about this? As an attorney and very successful songwriter/business owner, why on earth would I take the time to lie about a hair being on a $5 burrito. Ironically there was a white couple in front of me who told me the same thing happened to them. The only difference is they weren’t accused of lying. I still went back and one lady said they should comp the burrito but another lady working yelled out no and then I got another lecture about people lying. I really wanted to give them another chance but unfortunately they blew it mainly because they need to work on improving their...
