2018.01-02: we love this spot. To know Quong is to love Quong. The best FRESH Chinese food there is in the valley. WE DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. He doesn't have food "sitting in the window" for hours which makes your tummy uneasy after you leave. Quong makes every order fresh with locally sourced resources everyday. Whatever he purchases at the market in the morning is what you get. Once it's gone, it's gone. So if you don't have Chicken and Green Beans that day, you may have Chicken and Broccoli. We love this man. Eat it fresh and hot. The Crispy Chicken Wings are to die for. A flavor we can't recreate at home. Every entree is simple and quickly made with perfection. If you don't have time to spare for hot, delicious food, don't bother staying and go elsewhere. We've never fallen ill from anything we've eaten from here. He is a one man operation so have patience if you want hot, excellent food. If not, do us a favor and leave - he doesn't need your business. If you can deal with the "Soup Nazi" man from Seinfeld, you'll be fine. Like we said, to know Quong is to love Quong. An excellent, honest, hard-working man who can cook his ars off. Definitely a must try if you haven't already! We are regulars so you know we'll be back. Take advantage of the $4.99 lunch specials when you can! Totally FIRE.

Solid place for cheap American Chinese takeout. Went in person to pick up. Looks like more of a takeout place but they have some seating. I do recommend calling ahead of time because there was only one worker and my order took 30ish minutes. Nevertheless he was really nice and I got two entrees, chow mein, chicken fried rice, and the fried chicken wings. He threw in a free order of rice. All of that was $45 which is crazy good nowadays. Orange chicken was solid, not heavy on the breading like some places and the sauce was well balanced with an ample orange flavor. The Mongolian beef was really good. Very tender. All around solid place if you’re craving cheap Chinese takeout.

Amazing food and amazing service. Quang is very passionate about his craft, including the effort he puts into his food. Despite this place being takeout only, and cash only, please, Don’t let that stop you from grabbing the best Chinese cuisine in North Hollywood ! And also you can’t beat the prices. The dishes are about $9 each. Sodas are $2.50 each. Ice cold. Enough to serve 2 adults with leftovers. Again, for the search bar’s sake: this place has very good Chinese food!!

The food was good but this deserved a one star because the guy who runs it was really rude, condescending, and was shouting at me. It was my first time at the place. I looked at the menu online beforehand and thought it was a good deal for the price. I went into the store expecting to pay maybe around $20-25. As I was waiting for him to take my order I looked more into the physical menu which showed the same prices as the online. When my time came I ordered 4 items but he said it would be like $35 dollars! I didn’t know he didn’t go by those prices anymore so I had to go with three items instead of 4 to be able to afford it in cash. However he patronized me in a condescending, loud, and irritated way that I should have known those prices that he had listed were way back then and not possible to live by today. Instead of just leaving it at that, he kept bringing it up and repeating the same thing over and over as he went back and forth from the kitchen to the counter. He made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing that those prices he listed were false! If the man doesn’t want to get angry or irritated at people who want to purchase his food at those prices, he should update those prices! Otherwise how could customers know!??!! Although the food was good, I was treated very disrespectfully and shamed for what I didn’t know. This man has issues and I know I won’t be coming back to this place again unless he changes and treats...

This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the Valley. There are a lot of good, decent, reliable places around, but none that taste as fresh and homemade as Hot Wok.

Before going here, be aware that the entire restaurant is run by one gentleman. He closes at 6 or 7 during the week and is closed on Sundays. He makes every order fresh. If there are orders ahead of yours, expect to wait a few extra minutes, but it’s worth it. They advertise delivery, but I don’t know if he actually still delivers considering it’s just him in the restaurant. We usually call ahead then go pick it up. There is no dining in option, just to go. Usually there is available street parking on Lankershim right out front (across from Starbucks). Some bad reviews have complaints that could have been avoided had the reviewer known and been okay with this information up front.

The food has been excellent every time. Best sesame chicken I think I’ve ever had. Fried rice and lo mein are also excellent. My husband raves about the beef and broccoli. Dumplings are way better and taste way more like they’re homemade than other surrounding Chinese food places. Egg rolls are really good, too. They’re not the best I’ve had, but they’re the closest to real egg rolls I can find in LA. Most places have egg rolls on their menu when they’re actually just spring rolls (being from the East Coast, I miss real egg rolls terribly). 10/10 will keep this place in our take...
